    3. Would like to add one more thing to this post..... The obituary for John Phillips in the Portsmouth Correspondent refers to his "widow and 8 children" he leaves behind. He only had 7 kids with his first wife so I am wondering if he and Mary had a child between 1895-1898. Can anyone look them up in the 1900 census and see??? Thanks so much Pam

    3. Trying to find anything on Mary E. Flannigan who married John Phillips in Portsmouth October 14, 1893. He died in 1898 so we might assume she remarried at some point. Don't know anything else about her other than she was his second wife and did his obit for the Portsmouth Correspondent. She may have been a widow herself when she married John. Finding anything would be great. Thanks in advance Pam _____________________________________ My Mind Is Like Lightning...........One brilliant flash and Pooooooooooffffffffffffffffffff it's gone..!

    3. Does anyone know whether St. John's Church in Harrison Mills was a Catholic church or a Lutheran Church? I'm not talking about the one in Powellsville, Green Twp. I believe St. John's Lilly Cemetery is near it. The cemetery is on-line. Is the member of the clergy in a Lutheran church called "father" or "reverend?" Herma [email protected]

    1. [OHSCIOTO] HISE - Scioto Co. OH > Parke Co. IN > Vermilion Co. IL
    2. According to his Civil War enlistment papers, my great-grandfather, Levi Tillman HISE was born in Scioto Co. OH 6/3/1821. By 3/14/1841 he was in Vermilion Co. IL, where he married Eliza Jane Gritton b. abt. 1821 in KY. In the 1820 census there are a couple of HISE families in Scioto Co. OH and I believe Levi may be the son of Aaron and Anna Turner Hise. These families migrated in 1820-30 to Parke and Vermillion Counties, IN and from there to Vermilion Co. IL. I have been unsuccessful in locating a will for Aaron (who died sometime between the1860 and 1870 census of Parke Co. IN) See the following "bare bones" descendency chart for allied family names (I tried to shorten this a little :-). I have much more on some of these families. Eash surname is in CAPS only once - so use the Edit/find function to find more of the same. I am attempting to find a researcher to help me in Parke County. Meanwhile, however, it's been a long time since I posted my information to any mail lists so I thought I'd give it another try!! 3. Hi Herma, At the Portsmouth Library website there is an historical index that lists Rachel Ann Dean and William R. Dean in the Vernon Township Cemetery. Unfortunately there are no other details and I don't know where to get info about this cemetery. Bloom Twp. #226, 227 I have DEAN, Wm. F., 68 yr old truck farmer, b. VA living with wife Rachel A., age 66, b. OH In 1910 this couple was in Blaine, Lawrence Co. KY. with their family of 4 children, including Wm. F. Jr., who was 8 at the time. In 1920 this couple was living with their 18 yr old. son Wm. F., Jr. on Jackson St. in Portsmouth. Both father and son were shoe workers. The 3 older children are out of the house. By 1930 Wm. Sr. has gone back to farming in Bloom Twp. Scioto Co. That's the township where South Webster is located. Wm. Jr. has married, is living at a different Jackson St. address in Portsmouth, and is employed by the steel mill. Question: Does anyone have access to Bloom Twp.-South Webster cemetery listings other than those on-line? Does anyone have a burial or anything further on Wm. F. DEAN Sr. b. abt 1862 and wife Rachel A. DEAN b. abt. 1864? I have checked the cemetery listings that are at the Scioto.org site for Bloom Twp. but didn't find them. They weren't in the on-line death cert. database that goes up to 1937. Couldn't find them in the KY death index that is on-line. Thanks. 3. Kathleen, I have relatives buried in the Squire's (Kallner) Cemetery. Go to http://www.portsmouth.lib.oh.us/index.shtml Click on Genealogy, then, Search Index, then Cemetery Index, then do a simple search by entering "Squire" This does not give any specific information, only the names of those Squires and where they are buried. I found Wilson G., Angelina, John W., Nathaniel and Seely buried in Squires Cemetery. You can then contact Portsmouth Library and maybe they will have more information. 1. [OHSCIOTO] Marriage record information
    2. the farm
    3. Does anyone have a record of a marriage between Martha Jane Miller Bryant and a man named Cropper between 1875 and 1892? Martha Jane married Isaac C. 'Jack' Bryant in 1873 in Portsmouth, their daughter, Mary Alice was born in 1875 and by Mary's marriage to George Phillips in 1892, Martha is signing her name as Martha Cropper (could be 'Croffer' I guess but don't think so). Mostly curious and want to keep the records straight at this point. So, can anyone shed some light on this? Thanks Pam _____________________________________ My Mind Is Like Lightning...........One brilliant flash and Pooooooooooffffffffffffffffffff it's gone..!
