    3. For some reason, my follow-up email came through to the list but not my original email, so here it is again. Sorry if everyone gets two of these. Here is the information on all the Barbers & Briggs listed in the book titled Scioto County, Ohio Newspaper Index: Deaths and Marriages 1818 to 1865 by Barbara Keyser Garguilo: Catherine Barber died Oct 18, 1851 age 18. Death notice published Oct 22, 1851, in the Portsmouth Tribune and Clipper. Jane Barber married Galbreth Patterson on March 6, 1825. Marriage notice published on March 18, 1825, in the Portsmouth Gazette & Lawrence Advertiser. Louisa Barber married Erza H. Noel on Jan 8, 1846. Marriage notice published on Jan 15, 1846 in the Portsmouth Tribune. William E. Barber married Caroline Cole on Dec. 25, 1851. Marriage notice published on Dec 31, 1851 and published in the Portsmouth Tribune & Clipper. Samuel C Briggs married Rebecca Timbrook on Dec 29, 1825. Marriage notice published on March 3, 1826 in the TA (TA stands for Temporary Advertiser. The only TA papers available were from 24 Feb 1826 to 6 Apr 1826. They were original papers found in the Vault at the Ohio Historical Society and were filed with the Western Times newspapers and so, if you ask, you should probably ask for the Western Times). There is one other Briggs listed: William Briggs married Mary M. Orms on Dec 25, 1851. Notice published on Dec 31, 1851 in the Portsmouth Tribune and Clipper (note that this is the very same day that Wm Barber married Caroline Cole). Phyllis

    3. I am looking for information on this family found in the 1830 & 1840 census in Ross County and 1850/60 in Scioto. Are they the same family? Anyone have an additional information on them? I'm trying to determine if this is my Graves family. 1830 Census (Ross County) THADIUS GRAVES? In 1850 there is a Thadeus Graves with a son named Alfred who is 15 in the Scioto County Census. I know there is a Richmondale in Ross County. I had been looking at Richmond in Jefferson County, but I have been unable to find any Graves in that county that even come close to dates for my Alfred. Alfred married in October 1, 1857 to Elizabeth WELLMAN in Wayne Co., WV and he died before 1860. Alfred and Elizabeth had at least one possibly two children. Anson Graves b. 1858 And Possibly Freddie Graves (there is anecdotal information on a brother Freddie but no information on birth year) Elizabeth married Syrus Reynolds in 1864-5. Is there any hope of finding death information on Thadeus in Scioto county before 1870? I'll just keep plugging at these until I find some answers. Laura

I am not totally satisfied with the way these are all pieced together. There is some confusion about how and where Anna Robinson fits into this. I am going to send you the information. If this rings a bell please help me eliminate any mistakes you discover. I have a large amount of additional information I will share with anyone if this rings a bell. 3. Thanks Phyllis, I neglected to mention on my posting that Frank Jacobs and family are on the 1900 Utah, Carbon Co. census and then on the 1910 CA, Sonoma, 1920 CA Fresno census. So, I have followed him from his marriage date of 1890 to when he dies of 1928 BUT it's the earlier part that I can not find. I just realized after my posting that there is a Scioto County as well as a Scioto town (in Jackson Co.), Ohio so now I'm now sure which Scioto he meant when he indicated on his marriage record that he was born in "Scioto, Ohio" - I'm beginning to think it might be the town which is in Jackson Co. (If I'm wrong on that county, please correct me). I have no idea if his parents or siblings came west or not - I have a feeling that they did not. Thanks for your help. 3. Thanks for your help. My Jacobs should have been in Fresno by 1911 so don't know why they are not in the 1917 Fresno Directory - perhaps they lived in Fresno Co. and not the city at that time. I'll pass on the Cincinnati directory at this time. Thanks again for responding. Marti

    3. I did a quick search in Heritage Quest Censuses on Louis Jacobs for 1900 and only one came up that was 35 years old in 1900. The address he was enumerated looks might also be a business and the address is 710 Main Street, 6th Ward, Cincinnati, Ohio. He is listed with one other person who is head of household. That name is....looks like William Van Horne, age 42, Printer. Louis is listed as being a printer mechanic and he lists himself as a partner of Wm Van Horne. The census also says that Louis Jacobs was born Jan 8th, 1865. Also, he lists having been married for 14 years. He was born in Ohio and both his parents were born in Germany. Could this be your guy? Phyllis
