I purchased these fine books just recently. They are Iriah Families and More Irish Families. These are an excellent resource for Irish researchers. I found out the family I was researching was Scottish, and therefore, these have no value to me. They are selling different places for $50.00 per book. I am selling them for $ 20.00 per book + $ 5.00 shipping. They are in excellent condition and are great for someone researching name origins. If you are interested, please email me. --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? vote.yahoo.com - Register online to vote today!
I noticed today that there is an old history of these 4 counties on Ebay if it helps someone in their research. Dear Phyliss, Thanks ever so much for the trouble you went to, to find out about my family, I'm sorry I can't help you wth the Brandt branch in your family, that is my married name, even tho I'm no longer maried. As far as I know all of the Brandt's in his family are from Miami and Darke countys. I don't know if anyone in that family have ever done any genealogy on the family . My ex and his parents are all dead so I have no one to ask about the ancestors in the family. So sorry I can't help you. Jane Brandt
Hi Jane, That's ok. I am glad I was able to help you! Phyllis I'm sorry I can't help you wth the Brandt branch in your family
I am going to be going to Cincinnati OH for a long weekend, and have some time on Monday. Was wondering what information may be available at either courthouse or libraries. I'm stuck on a Graves family that appears to be in Ross in 1840/1850 and Scioto in 1860. Since I've got the time, I figured why not go looking since I'm not getting anywhere with this family online. thanks! Laura
Jane, I am back home now. I checked the book and while there are a number of Brooks and Rileys, there is no Julia or Jane Riley. Also, no Issac or John Brooks. Here are all the Brooks and Rileys listed: Charles Riley died Jan 6, 1853. Notice published in the Portsmouth Tribune & Clipper on Jan. 19, 1853. David Riley, age 8, died Aug. 22, 1854. Notice published in the Daily Evening Tribune on Aug. 25, 1854. James Riley died (no date given). Notice published in the Portsmouth Tribune & Clipper on Nov 19th, 1851. (male) Riley died March 17, 1855. Notice published in the Daily Evening Tribune on March 29, 1855. Margaret Riley, age 10, died Aug. 22, 1854. Notice published in the Daily Evening Tribune on Aug. 25, 1854. (unknown) Riley, child, died June 1860. Notice published in the Portsmouth Times on June 9, 1860. (unknown) Riley, child, died June 1860. (all info the same as the one above). Lucinda Brooks married Hosward Claburn on May 30, 1856. Notice published on June 11, 1856 in the Weekly Portsmouth Tribune. Mary Brooks married Samuel Nixon on Jan 16, 1828. Notice published on Jan 19, 1828 in the Western Times. Pheobe Ann Brooks died at age 2 years and 7 months on Aug 28, 1855. Notice published on Sep 1, 1855 in the Daily Evening Tribune. Preston Brooks died Jan 27, 1857. Notice published in the Weekly Portsmouth Tribune on Feb 4, 1857. Samuel Brooks married Maria Miller on Feb 8, 1854. Notice published in the Portsmouth Daily Dispatch on Feb 21, 1855. W.C. Brooks married Eliza Hutton on Dec 31, 1857. Notice published in the Daily Evening Tribune on Jan 5, 1858. Now I have a question for you. Do you have a Laura Greve Fortriede Brandt in your line? She was my great grandmother's twin sister and was born in Scioto County area on December 10th, 1939. She married a Frederick Brandt in 1857 and they had two kids, Matilda and Lizzie. Frederick died in the Civil War in 1864. Laura then married a Michael Straub. I have been looking for her and her descendents for quite some time now. I do not know who Matilda married, but Lizzie married a Carmichael and they lived in Kentucky. Phyllis
Jane, Those names do not appear in the book. Sorry. Herma Could someone look in the Scioto Co. Newspaper Index of Deaths and Marriages for Marriage and deaths of Issac(john) Brooks and Julia (Jane) Riley before 3-20-1877? They were my great- grandparents. My grandfather Elmer was born in Portsmouth, on that date. I also would like to know of any brothers or sisters he had. Thanks a lot for the time and trouble. Jane Brandt
Jane, If no one looks this up for you, I will do so when I return from a business trip next week. Phyllis > Could someone look in the Scioto Co. Newspaper Index of Deaths and > Marriages for Marriage and deaths of Issac(john) Brooks and Julia > (Jane) Riley before 3-20-1877?

Thanks very much for the information about the Hey and Jewett families. Also, I would like to hear from anyone with connections to a Wilson family from Kentucky. Rita Hyland
Could someone look in the "Scioto Co. Newspaper Index of Deaths and Marriages" for marriage of John Hey, also marriage of William Jewett. Thanks so much! Rita Hyland
This is getting even more interesting. I was intrigued to see the marriage of Mary M. Orms to Wm. Briggs occurred the very same day that Wm. Barber and Caroline Cole married. My Coles and Orm (Orme) lines merged in 1848 when William Creighton Cole married Rhoda E. Orm, also in December. They are my great, great grandparents. I have been researching both the Coles and Orms for a while now. It is believed that the names Orm and Orme were originally "Arms" in England. I won't even mention that the next generation, one of William and Rhoda's children married a Briggs! (My maiden name is Briggs.) If anyone else is working on these lines, I would love to share notes. I have traced the Coles to England and the Ormes to Hagerstown, Maryland. Kathy Gire ([email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) )

No HEYs listed. There are HAYS and HAYES, including a death for a Lord John HAYS and a marriage for a John HAYES. Here is the marriage info. John HAYES married Elizabeth Ormstead on Jan 4, 1853. Notice published on Jan. 5, 1853 in the Portsmouth Tribune & Clipper. And the only Jewett listed is as follows with an 'i'. Jonathan Jewitt died (no date given). Death notice published March 22, 1855. Phyllis
Rowena, http://www.scioto.org/Scioto/Articles/littlemiamipub.html Go to this page and read about the bk. and how to order it. The bk. gives the newspaper citation for deaths and marriages that appeared in Scioto Co. newspapers from 1818 to 1865. In so doing, it also gives the date of the death or marriage as it appears in the newspaper article. Herma
