I'm digressing, but I couldn't resist for when I saw Waikiki it reminded me of a Liberty there in the 40's. We hadn't been paid and were so broke we didn't even have any cigarettes. We (4 or 5 teenage Marines) decided to go to the Royal Hawaiin Hotel and get some free pineapple juice. As we walked up the long winding sidewalk to the entrance, a woman lite up a cigarette at the door and started walking toward us. Just before we passed, she threw the lit cigarette off to the side. The scramble for the cigarette was absolutely hilarious. My genealogical question. Who was that woman? I want to thank her for I got the ciggie.
