John Peter Hasselbach was born in Berndroth, Germany September 16, 1835. He came to America in the year 1854, landed at Sandusky City the 12th of May. He worked around Bellevue and Tiffin til 1857. He married Catherine Missler September 10, 1857. They had five children first being Anthony born June 9, 1858, Joseph born October 10, 1859, John April, 1861--he died when he was 6 months old, buried in Sandusky Cemetary. Peter Hasselbach born July 28, 1862, Francis (daughter) born October 18, 1864. In 1865 March 11th his wife died. John remarried on October 17, 1865 Magdalena Mook. That union produced 15 children: Lillie born July 10, 1866, Micheal September 1867, Mary July 29, 1868, Phillip April 21, 1870, George Oct. 1871, Minnie Nov. 10, 1872, Katie Jan. 30, 1874, two twin sons born in April 1875, died - one in 5 hours and one in 5 days.
