He lived for many years Clyde, OH. He was President of the Hughes Granite Company. In 1917 two of Johns brothers, came to the United States. There was some contact between the brothers but by 1940 all contact was lost. Only a few surviving children here in the USA have vague memories of John Morck and his family. I am looking for any desendants of John Morck. From the obit I know that he had a grandson named John Wendt, the son of Orville C. Wendt and Marian (Morck) Wendt. Morck Word was received here yesterday of the death of John E. Morck, former president and chief stockholder of The Hughes Granite Co. which was one of the flourishing businesses in Clyde at one time. Mr. Morck is recent years had been connected with a cemetery in Albany, N.Y. It is understood the body will be sent to Clyde for funeral services at the Mitchell Funeral Home and that the interment will be made in the Port Clinton Mausoleum. Mr. Morck’s daughter Mrs. Orville C. Wendt and Mr. Wendt were flying from Phoenix, Arizona to Philadelphia, Pa. yesterday to make arrangements. Mr. Morck is survived by his wife the former Ellen Lama of Clyde, the daughter Marion Wendt and a grandson John Wendt who at present visiting his grandparents Mr. and Mrs. F.J. Wendt. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ from the Clyde Enterprise - Clyde, Ohio, July 26, 1951 The Morck Funeral Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Mitchell Funeral Home for John Emil Morck, 75, who had passed on July 17 in Abbington Hospital, Philadelphia, Pa. of an embolism. The Rev Perry S. Neldon conducted the services and the body was placed in the Port Clinton mausoleum which Mr. Morck had designed. Serving as pall bearers were John Rauber, Karl B. Mann, S. W. Trump, F. E. Slessman, L.A. Pawsey and J. F. Tarris. Mr. and Mrs. Orville C. Wendt and son John of Phoenix, Arizona and Mrs. Wesby Hover of Cleveland were here from out of town for the service. The Wendts arrived in Clyde last week end after flying from Phoenix to Philadelphia on receiving word of the sudden death of Mr. Morck. At the time of his passing Mr. Morck was superintendent of Memorial Gardens, a cemetery near Phildelphia. His home was at 53 N. Elm St., Albany, N. Y. Two weeks prior to his death he had entered the hospital for X-ray examination which revealed a tumor and he was undergoing treatment to build him up for an operation when the embolism developed. The greater part of Mr. Morck’s life was spent in Clyde with the former Hughes Granite and Marble Co. He was president of the company at the time it went out of business about 15 years ago. He had been architect, artist, designer, and sculptor for the company, coming here more than 50 years ago from Boston, Mass. where he had attended art school. He was a native of Norway, son of a Norwegian sea captain who had not wanted the son to follow him on the sea. About the turn of the century he married Jennie Moore of west Route 20 and were parents of a daughter Marian, now Mrs. Wendt. The family home was on W. Buckeye street in the property now owned by Mrs. C.R. Carter. Mrs Morck died in 1921. Mr. Morck later married Miss Ellen Lamma of Clyde, who survives as does the daughter and grandson. He was one of two children, but it is not known whether the brother is living. During his years her Mr. Morck was very active in Boy Scout work in Clyde and in the county, and was active in the several civic clubs which at times have flourished in the village. He was a 32nd degree Mason and belonged to the Blue Lodge and chapter in Clyde and to the commandery and Shrine in Albany N. Y.
