Surnames: Smith, Storms Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WZB.2ACI/742 Message Board Post: I have just found a female ancestor who was declared insane and found in the 1860 census for Sandusky Township, Sandusky Co.,Ohio. She is listed as residing in the Sandusky County Poor Farm. Her name was LOUISA STORMS, she was committed to the "Lunatic Asylum" in 1846. Her husband moved to Michigan and remarried in 1850. I'm assuming that he must have divorced her? Or could a man back then just remarry if his 1st wife had been committed? Are there any records for this Poor Farm? I do not find her in the 1870 census.
