    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: tyler Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/WZB.2ACI/338.1 Message Board Post: i am the gg niece of your morris married to elta, then sophia bristol. morris' brother isaac born july 26, 1809 is my gg grandfather. here is what i know about tylers. morris is the son of john wooster tyler born may 10 1773 in new haven, ct. john wooster was married to sarah almina smith who was the daughter of isaac smith and mabel moulthrop. sarah almina smith was born in east haven ct. october 12, 1772. sarah and john wooster tyler had six children: morris, sarah, mabel, julia, john samuel and isaac. john and sarah tyler moved from new haven county connecticut to oswego, ny about 1805. from there they moved to detroit michigan sometime after 1910. in february, 1816 the family moved once more to lower sandusky (now freemont) ohio where john wooster tyler was one of the early merchants and among the founding citizens of sandusky county when it formed around 1820. sarah almina smith died in fremont ohio about 1831. john wooster tyler died in late may or early jun! e also in fremont. his will was probated on june 12, 1832. this information was compiled from the obituary of isaac tyler, freemont daily news, june 9, 1951 and 1915 yearbook of the sandusky county pioneer and historical association. both books can be found at the hayes library, freemont, ohio. i can give you an outline of our lineage above john wooster to the ancestor who came over from england. it goes: the american patriarch of this tyler family is roger tyler who was born in england. i am not sure if it is known exactly when he came to america, i have seen several different things online, however i have not yet tried to document them. however, roger was at lynn massachusetts, in 1640 and by 1650 he had moved to new haven. roger was married to ann (again, i have seen different last names for her) and they had the following children. peter, george, francis, charles, and roger. we descend from peter. peter was married to first deborah swain and secondly to hannah whitehead. i am not sure of all the children of each wife, only that peter and deborah swain had at least john, and ebeneezer. we are descended from john. john married hannah someone and they had martha, elnathan (1) , david, elnathan (2) johathan, hannah and agnis. we descend from david. david was born march 9 1706 in branford and married bethiah lindsley. they had berijah, david, william, phineas, and ! dorcas. we descend from william. william married jemina cooper and they had joesphus william, john wooster, salome, and frank morris. from john wooster, comes your morris and my isaac. my great grandfather is morris clifton tyler, apparently named after his uncle morris. morris clifton's daughter, edna was my grandmother. i have a page provided by one of the libraries in ohio that states your morris to have been a great lakes captain. it notes that he was married twice, first ot elta, then sophia bristol. i show that their brother john s. was a merchant. i think i might even have a store ledger from his store. isaac, my gg grand is listed as a farmer. i also show on this paper that their sister, sarah (sally) was married on may 20, 1815 to a merrit scott may 20, 1815 in detroit. that may account for the move there.
