Surnames: Edwards, Miller, Shire Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WZB.2ACI/565.1 Message Board Post: The Hezekiah Edwards you refer to is probably Hezekiah Edwards born 1842, died 1926 in Old Fort, Ohio. (There was another Hezekiah Edwards but I don't know anything about him.) Uncle Hez was a son of Joseph Edwards and Mary Miller. He married Eunice Almira Myers in 1875. They had no children of their own, but they raised her grandnephew as their own son -- Frank B. Shire. Uncle Frank was my husband's uncle. Frank Shire and his wife are buried next to Hezekiah and Almira in the Old Fort cemetery. Uncle Hez was quite an amusing character and also collected every scrap of paper that ever crossed his path. My husband's cousin has a huge box of stuff she inherited from Uncle Frank Shire that contains literally ALL of Hezekiah Edwards' personal papers, down to the last little receipt for kerosene from the local general store. One of these days I'm going to visit her again and go through that box with a fine-toothed comb, if she hasn't gotten rid of it by now. My husband always heard that "Uncle Hez ate his dessert first and put his mashed potatoes in his coffee."

We do not know her parents or siblings. She was married to Henry Hartig b. 12-01-1857 d. 04-06-1894 place unknown. They had five children: Arthur Edward Hartig (my wife's great grandfather) b. 01-17-1879 d, 12-19-1958 Osceola, Indiana; Lillian Courtney Hartig b. 09-30-1888 d. 10-23-1927 in Chicago and was married to Arthur Emslie; Eleanor Katherine Hartig b. 06-12-1890 d. 11-21-1968 buried in Florida; Clarence H. Hartig b. 12-17-1892 d. 09-20-1958 buried in Florida; and "Boy" Hartig (probably died in infancy). The 1880 census lists a Henry Hartig, age 24, birthplace Germany (parents also born in Germany) whose occupation was machinist. The census place was Brooklyn, Kings (Brooklyn), New York City-Greater, New York. The Family History Library number is 1254845 in Family Search (LDS Church). So far, I am at a dead end on the Hildwein family. Hopefully this will be helpful to you. Best regards, Jerry Weaver

Surnames: Powell, Holman, Mann, Klotz, Hostler Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/WZB.2ACI/707 Message Board Post: Looking for help finding any data related to John Wesley Powell, his family and his life in Sandusky County. J.W. Powell (born Nov. 5, 1836) was a United Brethren minister and supposedly was a farmer and an owner of a general store, perhaps in Burgoon. Family stories also mention a bank in Fostoria. I would like to learn anything about his ministry and whether he actually farmed, ran a store or was associated with a bank. Further, would like information relating to his children. He married Catharine Hostler Dec. 24, 1857, supposedly in Sandusky County. One census mentioned that John Wesley and Catharine had 6 children. I know of three that lived into their senor years - Sylvia Powell Kenan (Sandusky County), Emma Powell Holman (Seneca and Hancock Counties), and Mary Catharine Powell Mann (Hancock Counties). I believe there were up to three more children, at least one of whom was likely a female and married to a Klotz, as my grandmother's cousin's last name was Klotz. Thanks in advance for any assistance. Irma
