    1. Fw: [OHGEN-L] Washington County OHGW..
    2. Maggie Stewart-Zimmerman
    3. - ---------------------------------------------------------------- FORWARDED MESSAGE Subject: [OHGEN-L] Washington County OHGW: County Coordinator Needed - ---------------------------------------------------------------- Howdy All: Washington County OHGenWeb's site is in need of a county coordinator. [ http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohwashin/ ] If someone would be interested in being the CC for Washington, please take a look at the County Adoption Standards and Responsibilities at the OHGenWeb State site: [ http://www.scioto.org/OHGenWeb/statedocs/requirements.html ] ...and after reviewing that material, contact either myself or Judy Kelble, OHGW ASC <[email protected]>, to express your interest. This county site is in need of immediate query development. The tools are currently in place to make this situation extremely easy, and Judy and I are willing to assist in making both the transition and the site upgrading happen smoothly. This is a high-traffic site (or at least has been so in the past) and could potentially require a miminum of one hour per week dealing with the incoming queries/surnames from Washington County researchers. (Gee, that's not a lot of time at all, is it? <grin>) Other site maintenance will be at the discretion of the new County Coordinator; however, the potential for implementing resources for Washington Co's genealogists is high. Patty Lindsay's Query Express system is in place as the query processing system d'jour - a very user-friendly system which has worked well in the past, and should continue to serve well into the future. Since there are currently no potential coordinators listed at the OHGW state site's "Pool of Potential County Coordinators" page [ http://www.scioto.org/OHGenWeb/potential-hosts.html ], the call is going out locally for a coordinator, and if none come forward with an interest, the call will go out to a larger audience. Call for email from interested candidates will conclude at 6 pm EDT, Thursday, 20 May 1999. In your correspondence, please explain your interest in Washington County, your current HTML skill level, and why you feel you would be a good host for this county site. While it is not required, some familial connections to Washington County would be a plus. SEND YOUR EMAIL TO: Allen Richmond, OHGW SC - [email protected] Judy Kelble, OHGW ASC - [email protected] Thanks for your time! We look forward to announcing the new Washington County OHGW Coordinator very soon. Allen ==== OHGEN Mailing List ==== !^NavFont02F08590007NGHHO5BE488

    1. Sidney, Ohio to Cincinnati, Ohio
    2. Will do lookups (free, of course) for anyone looking for present-day families and spelling variations in west central Ohio down to southwest Ohio. I have the telephone books for Shelby County (Sidney, Ohio) to Miami County (Piqua and Troy, Ohio). I also have Montgomery County (Dayton, Ohio) and greater Cincinnati, Ohio. There are many German descendants in west central Ohio. (Sometimes it is easier to look in a "real" paper telephone book than to search for spelling variations on the internet white pages. 1. SHREFFLER and WEBER
    2. SUbject: SHREFFLER WEBER HERMAN HERRMANN The route of the SHREFFLER and WEBER descendants (1749) from Philadelphia, PA was Germantown (Montgomery County, PA), to Reading (Berks County, PA) to Centre and Union Counties in PA. Some SCHREFFLER and SHREFFLER went to Schuylkill County. In the 1830s, some went to Venango County. The first descendants of SHREFFLER (SCHREFFLER) and WEBER settled in Richland, Stark, Wayne and what is now Ashland County. By the 1830s and 40s, some lived in Wood and Sandusky Counties in Ohio. >From northwest Ohio, some Shreffler went to Will County, Illinois in 1840. I have a slight connection to Gibsonburg. There are Shreffler families living there today. Our original SHREFFLER immigrant married Anna Maria WEBER, and they lived in Philadelphia, PA and the Germantown area from 1749 to about 1759. We don't know anything about the WEBER family, but there are WEBER on the same ship that Shreffler took to America (the Ranier in the fall of 1749). We think that perhaps our SHREFFLER was also on an earlier ship - the St. Andrew's Galley. That ship made several voyages, but one of those voyages had several WEBER. Now - on the subject of Herman. We have several families by that name in Miami County and Shelby County, Ohio. Perhaps you should search alternate spellings, because in a 2 county phone book, there are 8 Herman, 2 Hermann, 1 Herrman, and 8 Herrmann. (Miami and Shelby Counties). The Herrmann families that I know are Catholic. From: Cyndy Shreffler in Troy, Ohio (west central Ohio) ([email protected])

    2. Hi George, Thanks for the info. Guess I should also check out Erie County. Hope to get home for a bit sometime this summer. Then I can check out both places. My mom didn't talk about her family hardly at all. After her mother passed away he remarried a woman named Dorothy and lived in Fremont until death. Mom was raised in a boarding school called St. Aloysis (?) but so far no one has found out where even that is. We know mom was born in Mt. Vernon Ohio. Her mother was a Jenkins from Around Utica or Mt. Vernon. After mom and dad were married she moved to Newark,Ohio but my father was the same way. Never mentioned any family . That's why my sister and I are at such a loss as where to start. Again, thank you for the info. Helen
