Hi, Yes we have one person researching the George family. She is Sharon Hughes, 607 CR 268, Clyde, Ohio 43410. We have two George families living in Fremont so maybe Sharon knows them. I used to know a Hap George that lived here. Good Luck Eleanor Kiser Ben Hines wrote: > I'm not sure if I have sent my query to this list. I am researching > GEORGEs in Sandusky Co. Hi all, I will be in Tiffin, OH on December 21 (Tuesday). Can someone give me the address to the Courthouse and Library so I can print out maps? I have never driven to downtown Tiffin even though I grew up in Defiance and lived in Findlay for years. I can spend almost the whole day there (have to be in Findlay by 3:30 to pick up my wife). What are the Courthouse and Library hours? Thanks for any help. Craig Aldrich Houston, TX Craig Aldrich <mailto:[email protected]> home page <http://freeweb.pdq.net/cmaldrich/>

Hi, St. Ann's church was first built in 1846.. This church was considered the Irish church. Because the german people of Fremont wanted their own church where they could understand the language the german men from Fremont built St. Joseph. in 1857. One of the pioneer men of St. Joseph was Jacob Gabel. He was born Jan. 30, 1784 in Dussenheim, Alsac. He arrived in Buffalo, N.Y. Sept. 29, 1829. He came to Fremont with his family in 1835. His wife Barbara Niebald Gabel was born Aug. 27, 1786 and married Jan. 20, 1808. They had three sons and three daughters. Father Machebeuf often said mass in their house. Mr. Gabel died Jan. 30, 1874. Mrs Gabel died Nov. 19 1868, 82 years. Their remains are buried in Ludwig Cemetery. (taken from the Souvenir of The Diamond Jubilee of St. Joseph Parish, Fremont, Ohio, celebrated May 7, 1933 ) Ludwig Cemetery was the oldest cemetery and was a distance out of Fremont and the roads were dirt roads then so it was hard to go to Ludwig cemetery for funerals. St. Joseph Cemetery and St. Ann's cemetery were next to each other on the S.W. side of Fremont. Ludwig is still in use and one side is for the Protestants and the other for the Catholics. St. Ann's joined St. Joseph just a few years back and now both cemeteries are together and known as the Catholic cemetery as Sacred Heart and St. Casimirs also bury their families in this cemetery. I hope this helps but the Kin Hunters have a member called Tim Mielke, 8326 Brooke Park Dr., Apt. 104, Canton, Michigan 48187. He has done extensive work on the Gabel family and is just about ready to have his work published. Hi, I'm not sure if this is the correct list for Kelley's Island. I am researching my great grand father, Wojciech Bochynski. He had a daughter who lived on Kelley's Island according to his obituary. Her name was "Mrs. Constance Erne" in the obit, however, I can find no record of him having a daughter named Constance so I am assuming this is the name of her husband. Wojciech had two daughters, Josephine and Paulena, according to the 1900 census. I know that Josephine stayed here in Saginaw, Michigan so I have to assume that Mrs. Constance Erne is Paulena. My father only remembers an Aunt Guste who lived on Kelley's Island and that his parents would take trips there occassionally. If anyone has heard of this name i would appreciate an e-mail as this is a completely lost branch of our family. Thanks for reading. P.S. my great grandfather died in May of 1940 in Carrollton, Saginaw County, Michigan. Pat
