On one census by the youngest daughter it says that he was born on ship coming from Germany. Then there is a bible from the oldest daughter that says David is 1/2 Cherokee Indian. Then there is an application to Cherokee of East completed by the oldest daughter that says David's father is George Dan Burget or Bunget, and mother Saloma (possibley his mother remarried). This same daughter claimed that the Cherokee came from her mother's side of the family, (which her great grandmother's side - Hardin, has not been traced and I can't seem to find info on them. The Friend family is Swedish. The oldest daughter had a hard life and her facts are not reliable but eventually get me to where I find information. I am sure there is German heritage through her father and American Indian from some side of the family, I just don't know where. I have found David Cripps name spelled Crapes, Cripes, or most often Cripps. On cen! sus images he has claimed birth in PA, but most often Ohio. The first census I find him on he is living with a family by the name of Wolf. After he married Mary Friend in Hocking County and had four Children he moved his family to Kosciusko County, IN. I hope you might find something, I have practically given up but, am always hopefull.
