I have two or three ancestors who lived in Ross County who were named "Mahlon Morris"--one of whom I have never been able to locate after the 1860 census--wonder if he was the one who was murdered?! Very interesting. Would it be possible for me to get some more details and/or a transcription of that article? I am sorry that I have no information for you on the Clifton family, but I would be interested in trying to locate more information on these murders if possible. Maybe it might be possible to find some mention of the murders and the circumstances surrounding them in 1860s newspapers. Thanks!
