Hello list - Might anyone know of the location of the subject graveyard and whether an inventory of burials has been made of the cemetery? I am looking for the burial records or tombstones of Samuel and Nancy Ross Hibben. I guess they died between 1820 and 1830. Thank you for whatever assistance you might offer. George in MA

Hi George, The stones in this cemetery have been copied. It is listed as Pittenger-Sandy in the index, but under the heading Sandy Cemetery in the body of the tombstone inscription book for Franklin Twp. "This cemetery is located in the Virginia Military District, survey number #4038 on Sandy Road, not too far off Three Locks Road, back a long lane. The cemetery is still being used, and was copied completely May 1971, rechecked in 1978." However, I'm sorry to say, there is no listing for the names you have. Maybe due to the early date, stones that were once there are no longer there now. Hi Ann - Thanks for the prompt and informative response. I guess this is not the way over the 'brick wall.' One more question: What is the name of the town nearest to Sandy Road and Three Locks Road in Franklin Twp.? I can't find Franklin Twp. on my map, but imagine the town will be shown.
