Hello List, I am seeking any information at all on the families of my 3rd great grandparents, Speakman (Spakeman, Speakman) JONES and Elizabeth BURNS. The only thing I know for sure is that they married in Highland County in 1838. They appear on the Ross County, Ohio 1840 census in the 20-30 yr. age bracket with no children. They next appear on the 1850 Fulton County, Illinois census and remain there until their deaths. I am wondering about these individuals that appear near them in the 1840 census. (I already have the 1840 census information for these JONES) A William JONES lives next to Spakeman on page 364. On page 361 is an Ellis JONES. These three JONES are in Paint Twp., Ross, Ohio. There is a Henry BURNS listed on page 339--no twp. listed (I do not have this census information). I believe it is the only BURNS in the county. I am wondering if he was the father of Elizabeth. Someone once suggested that they may have been Quakers as they married in Highland County and resided in Ross County. I could find nothing to verify that. None of the other names--William JONES, Ellis JONES, or Henry BURNS appear in Fulton County, Illinois with Spakeman. Maybe he went by himself. I just don't have much. If anyone is researching this line, or can offer the smallest hint of where to research, I would be greatly appreciative. I'm not yet familiar with the resources available in Ross County, but am open for any ideas. Thank you so very much Kristy Schumacher in Peetz, Colorado
