Just a last minute reminder about the OGS Athens district conference, at the University of Rio Grande on Saturday the 28th. We now have 65 preregistered for the day. The room will seat 200 so there is still plenty of room. Theme for the day is: "How Did Our Ancestors Get Here?: Migration Routes and Southeastern Ohio" Carrie Eldrige of Chesapeake will present two programs in the morning. 1) Pre Revolutionary War Immigrants, where they came from, where they entered America, and the trails westward 2) Post Revolutionary War immigrants: origins, ports of entry, and trails to the Ohio Valley After a lunch break, at 1PM, Ellen Brasel of the University of Rio Grande will speak on the Welsh immigrants and their influence on the area.. at 2:15PM, Henry Burke of Marietta will speak on the Underground Railroad: What led to its existence and the routes through the southeastern Ohio area.
