The Athens District Chapters of the Ohio Genealogical Society are sponsoring a conference on Oct. 28, in the auditorium of Bob Evans Farms Hall, at the University of Rio Grande, Rio Grande, Ohio. The theme for the day is: "How Did Our Ancestors Get Here; Migration Routes and Southeastern Ohio". Any explanation of how our ancestors got to SE Ohio will also be of value to our neighbors in the Ohio Valley. She was a speaker at the 2006 OGS Annual Conference. She will cover when and how different groups sailed to America, the ports of entry, and the routes from those ports to the Ohio Valley. Ellen Brasel, of the University of Rio Grande, will speak about the Welsh influx and its lasting effect on the region Henry Burke, of Marietta, OH, will speak about the Underground Railroad and its operations in the region Donald Clark, OGS Athens District Trustee
