    1. [OHROSS] OGS Athens district fall conference
    2. The Oct 28 conference in Rio Grande was a great success. This was the first regional conference in many years and the planning committee are very happy with the response. With the speakers and their assistants, there were 88 present for the day. For those who could not attend, an expanded version of the conference program with extensive notes from all three speakers will be available soon. We had hoped to tape the day, but there was a problem with the sound system. We are starting the process of planning a conference for 2007, and welcome any comments and suggestions for: 1. reasonably priced locations with seating for approx. 200, vendor space, handicap access, proximity to restaurants, plenty of parking, and ease of access for major roads. 2. subject matter you would like to have covered in depth 3. speakers who you know or have heard that are effective and have presentations ready that would be of value to any genealogist in the Southeastern Ohio area Any other comments are welcome. 1. [OHROSS] Ewell or Youell Williams
    2. Karen Conley
    3. I am searching for any informaton on a Ewell or Youell Williams of Union Township, early 1800s. I am not related to this person but he owned land in Union Township next to an Osmon Crabb and a Daniel Crabb, both of whom I am researching. I have found a Youell Williams married to a Sally Crabb in Richmond, Virginia in 1792 and I am wondering if this is the same Ewell/Youell Williams who was in Ross County during the early 1800s. Any info at all will be much appreciated. Thanks! Karen Remember the days of old, consider the years of many generations. (Deuteronomy 32:7)

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VZB.2ACI/213.2.1 Message Board Post: David was born May 5, 1827 according to his head stone. On one census by the youngest daughter it says that he was born on ship coming from Germany. Then there is a bible from the oldest daughter that says David is 1/2 Cherokee Indian. Then there is an application to Cherokee of East completed by the oldest daughter that says David's father is George Dan Burget or Bunget, and mother Saloma (possibley his mother remarried). This same daughter claimed that the Cherokee came from her mother's side of the family, (which her great grandmother's side - Hardin, has not been traced and I can't seem to find info on them. The Friend family is Swedish. The oldest daughter had a hard life and her facts are not reliable but eventually get me to where I find information. I am sure there is German heritage through her father and American Indian from some side of the family, I just don't know where. I have found David Cripps name spelled Crapes, Cripes, or most often Cripps. On cen! sus images he has claimed birth in PA, but most often Ohio. The first census I find him on he is living with a family by the name of Wolf. After he married Mary Friend in Hocking County and had four Children he moved his family to Kosciusko County, IN. I hope you might find something, I have practically given up but, am always hopefull.

    1. Re: [OHROSS] Genealogy Conference email
    2. The genealogy conference on the 28th was a great success. I don't know what happened to delay things, since I sent out that announcement on Oct. 3. Due to a glitch in the sound system, we weren't able to tape the sessions, but are putting together a report that includes the extensive programs notes for: Carrie Eldridge's talks on immigration origins, ports of entry, and trails to the Ohio valley; Ellen Brasel's talk about the Welsh immigrants to Gallia and Jackson Co's. It will also include Henry Burkes info from his Power Point presentation on the Underground Railroad in Southeastern Ohio. It will be 70 pages if printed. It will also be available on a CD in PDF format. I will check to see if Carrie will allow us to scan and include some of the maps used in her presentation. 2. I have the Buckskin Township, Ross County tombstone inscription book, and the Concord Township tombstone book. I checked both and did not find an inscription for William K. Taylor. He may be buried there, but without a tombstone. I would like to point out that Buckskin Township is next to Highland County more so than Fayette. The small city of Greenfield in Highland County is just across Paint Creek from Buckskin Township, Ross County. Greenfield has a large cemetery. They also have a small library that maintains all of the cemetery books for Highland and Ross County. I think Greenfield is in Madison Township, but I'm not certain of this.
