I recently became a volunteer to take pictures of tombstones for the online "Find a Grave" web site, and I just received a request for pictures of John Crago and wife's tombstones. They are supposedly buried in the Queen family cemetery located somewhere near Vigo, Ross County, Ohio. I cannot locate this cemetery and am wondering if someone out there can tell me where this cemetery is. I sure appreciate your help! Judy Harvey d_jharvey@verizon.net P.S. I am also interested in locating other Crago researchers who have an interest in those Cragos who lived in early Ross, Jackson, Vinton, Coshocton, and Wood Counties. I am not related to the Cragos, but would like to help put other Crago researchers in touch with one another.
Jamie, Beaverdale is not listed in any of the early histories of Ross County and the Ross web site includes any defunct towns that appeared in the various early histories of Ross and Ohio. I am not sure what time period you're looking at or what document you have stating the town of Beaverdale existed or was in Ross County, but it's possible it existed before Ohio became a State or before Ross County was formed. If so, then you would have to look into the history of the formation of the State & County and then go to the areas that represented Ross County at the time period you have referenced showing that Town. ie in 1797 Ross county was part of Adams County, therefore you would want to look in Adams County for records. There is a good explanation of County and its formation under the Maps section of the website titled "Ross Co Historical Boundaries and Development - pre-statehood to today". Another option is to contact the Ohio Historical Society Archives Library through email and see if they have a record of the town. Could you possibly be looking for the town known as Beaver in Pike County? Pike has a Union Twp., but I don't know if Beaver is located in it. Marcia

As far as I know there is no town by the name of Beaverdale which exists in Ross County. The only Beaverdale's I know of are in Pennsylvania and Iowa. You may want to do a search on the Ross County OHGenWeb site. There seems to be Barton's in Franklin Twp., Ross Co., Ohio and elsewhere in the county. Or possibly post the dates and specific names you are looking for and someone may be of more help in pinpointing the Township in which your Barton's resided.
