If you would know of anyone in possession of photos of the headstones, I would be very grateful. He had been a fairly wealthy man in his days so may have had a fairly nice stone, but then, he died at the age of 93 or so so he may not have had any $$ left for that. His name was John Hunter. Thank you so much!

Nothing of it exists. Most of the remains were removed to other cemeteries here, but not all gravestones were moved with the bodies. many of these stones still exists , but are on private property . our local genealogy society has some photos of stones, and a listing of those early burials. I will be glad to search for you. gwen

I also have William Salts born 1803 by other researchers, I would be interested to see the source for that record. There seems to be very little data for Thomas and Mary Salts youngest sons Samuel and William. Sarah Salts Seymour states she is 63 years of age on the application for bounty land dated 04JAN1851. A year earlier in the 1850 Census she states her age as 56. An indenture filed in the Jackson County Ohio Recorders Office dated 27AUG1839 which names the children of Sarah Salts Seymour; Elizabeth Dugan, Susan Thompson, Isaac Salts, William Salts, Alfred Salts, and Thomas Salts they are all the children of Solomon Seymores wife and are to take posession of this before mentioned tract at the death of Solomon Seymore and Sarah his wife. There was 81.84 acres purshased at Chillicothe, Ohio by Solomon Seymore on 04JUL1839.

My 4th G-Grandmother, Sarah A. MAY (b. 1832 in OH; d. 26 Nov 1915), married (7 Jun 1854 in Ross Co) Henry HICKLE, Jr. (b. 26 Feb 1826 in OH; d. 27 Oct 1919). They had a daughter, Althea Jane HICKLE (b. 17 Mar 1858) who later married Chauncey Sebastian FOUST. According to at least one piece of genealogical research, it shows that Sarah died while Althea was very young and Henry remarried...to a Sarah A. REEDY when Althea was really young. I know for a fact that Sarah MAY did not die as I have a picture of her as an elderly woman (posed with her sisters). Family legend says that she was the first woman in the state of Ohio to file for a divorce. I honestly don't know if that part is true, but a divorce seems to make sense that the HICKLE family (at that time) would say she'd died instead of face the "scandal" of a divorce initiated by a woman. I know that Sarah did remarry also...to a WHIPP (possibly a Daniel WHIPP). My request for help is if anyone else on the list has any other possible info regarding Sarah A. MAY and also Chauncey Sebastian FOUST. I know Chauncey was born in Ohio and had a brother named William E. Foust. Chauncey and my 3rd G-Grandmother were married in Kingston, OH and later ended up in El Paso, TX. They had 3 children, Minnie (died young), Minor, and Sarah. Sorry about the long, winding post and much appreciation for any help that can be given. Jamie A. Mustain Portland, OR
