Author: owenjulia Surnames: Mutschelknaus, Wilson Classification: obituary Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.ross/1295/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I'm looking for the obituary of a WWII veteran, Marion Mutschelknaus, who died while at the Chilicothe VA hospital. He was buried (also born & raised) in Aberdeen Ohio (Brown County) at Charter Oak Cemetery. He was born in 1921, and died in 1992. I'm looking for more firm dates of birth/death and for his siblings, they are my Grandma's cousins: A brother from his Mother's first marriage (I wish I had a given & or surname). A sister, Ann, from her Mom's 2nd marriage, full sibling of Marion's. I don't have her married name but know she married a Stanly, from Lexington, KY at the time. Their mother was Clara Mutschelknaus (nee Wilson). I don't know the names of her husbands, I think the 2nd was also Marion. She was my Grandma's aunt. Thanks so much! I have two or three ancestors who lived in Ross County who were named "Mahlon Morris"--one of whom I have never been able to locate after the 1860 census--wonder if he was the one who was murdered?! Very interesting. Would it be possible for me to get some more details and/or a transcription of that article? I am sorry that I have no information for you on the Clifton family, but I would be interested in trying to locate more information on these murders if possible. Maybe it might be possible to find some mention of the murders and the circumstances surrounding them in 1860s newspapers. Thanks! I am from the Conrads line. This line has given me the most grief over the years because their is a lot of mis-information out there and because J. Heinrich's line is not mine I admit that I have not verified it as well as I would have if it had been my own line. So, please, use the info I pass on to you as a guideline and not as the gospel. 2. Chyrl Lawrence-Bulger
    3. The update is a few days late and not much to add at all this month. Working at a CPA firm, the month of April leaves little time to breath with taxes due, let alone work on one's hobbies. So I apologize for not having more this month to add and May's update will be a little bit better. The Website has gotten too large for the Free Search engine I use so I hope next month to change that. In the meantime know that although your search will pick up the majority of items on the site, it will not pick up all. So in the meantime, until I can find another way to get the search engine free that will not have limits, you might want to view the pages individually. A visitor to the site, Georgene Hurst/Blair emailed me last month after she was unable to contact one of the contributors Charles L. Weidinger through the email that appeared on the items he contributed hoping I would have information on how to contact him. After replying to her that I only have what's on the site, she was kind enough to get back with me after she did some investigation into locating him. Unfortunately she came back with the sad news that Charles had passed on July 30 2006. I have placed a memorial at each of the items he contributed. He will be surely missed because he was one of the major contributors to the site. Now to the update: Schools Eastern Grade School in or around Chillicothe Photo of class of 1936/37 Contributed by Heather Ziccardi Thank you Heather for your kind contribution. That's it folks, again sorry its not much at all. Next update will be toward the end of May. Again, thank you for the contributions and Georgene's information on Charles Weidinger. He was reportedly married three times, to Elizabeth Kelso, Miranda Buskirk, and Mary McDaniel. He is probably the father of my ancestor, J. Douglas Clifton (born around 1861). I also have a newspaper clipping from the Portsmouth Times dated August 13, 1887 regardingthe deathbed confession of "old" Joshua Clifton of Yellow Bud, Ohio. He admitted to killing two men (Sam Osborn in 1861, and Mahlon Morris in 1864) and assisting in killing a third. Apparently and African-American man was convicted of murdering Osborn and did twenty years in the Ohio Penitentiary. Anyone have more info on this family or the murders? Thanks in advance!!!! 3. Hi George, The stones in this cemetery have been copied. It is listed as Pittenger-Sandy in the index, but under the heading Sandy Cemetery in the body of the tombstone inscription book for Franklin Twp. "This cemetery is located in the Virginia Military District, survey number #4038 on Sandy Road, not too far off Three Locks Road, back a long lane. The cemetery is still being used, and was copied completely May 1971, rechecked in 1978." However, I'm sorry to say, there is no listing for the names you have. Maybe due to the early date, stones that were once there are no longer there now. 3. I am looking for information on a family from the 1850 Ross county, Union township census. The mother is Sarah Campbell,(don't know maiden name), she has 5 children, James age 14, William age 10, Philip age 5, Nancy age 4, and Joshua age 3. There is no father listed, don't know his disposition. Would like to confer with anyone connected to this family. regards, Robert McCormick Gas City , Indiana -- I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users.
