This is a forwarded message. Please reply to "ALL" or the person/email listed below. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, November 30, 2000 1:00 PM Dear Listers, I have finally traced part of my Boyce family to Ross County in the town of Chillicothe. I have; James Boyce b. 1891 in Lawrence County, Ironton, Ohio; died 1947 in Ironton, he was returned to Chillicothe for burial; m. Helen Sullivan date/place are unknown; children were; Charles, James, Daniel, Jack, and Ann. Parents to James were Daniel Boyce and Katherine O'Keefe of Ironton, OH. Siblings to James were; Nellie, Margaret, Mary, Jean, Frank, and Catherine. His brother Frank also died in Chillicothe as did his father Daniel when he was hit by a train in 1903. I am trying to connect to a Dennis Boyce b. 1809 in Ireland. Father to Jennie b. 1860. Possibly father to Daniel and grandfather to James. Any help or suggestions are most welcome. Regards, Anne Marie http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~menard/mcenerny/index.htm

I have been given a photograph which was taken by Mader Photographers in > Chillicothe. I am wondering if anyone has information concerning this > photographer, such as: > During what years did this photographer have a studio in Chillicothe? > Does the photographer have any relatives living in Ross County today? > Help is appreciated. > Judy Fusonie > [email protected] ___________________________________ Judy, the photographer was Frederick C. Mader brother to my great grandfather, Charles Frederick Mader. Frederick was born 8-29-1866, married 11-30-1899, and died 3-20-1918. He married Jessie May Armstrong. They never had children, although he had the nickname of "Baby Photographer". He was the s/o of German immigrant, Wilhelm Heinrich. The studio was at the Palace Grande, he lived on 2nd St. The house in fact is still there. I have posted several of his archival photos on the Ross Co. Page. He was in business in the Ross Block at 149 W. Water St, according to the 1894-95 city directory. He learned his business in Chillicothe from I believe a man named Simmon (?). He apparently was very active, as he was a member of The Improved Order of Redmen, and Modern Woodman, The German Lutheran Church, The Singing society, "Eintract", President of City Council, and represented the 4th district in city council. He went into business on his own in 1890, but I believe was with Mr. Simmon before that. Some of the earlier info on his business is still a bit sketchy. It is also possible that he was in business for awhile in Greenfield, Ohio, Highland Co. I have a copy of 2 different business cards from that city. The time frame though for that is unknown. I would be interested in what picture you have. I find sometimes clues and history in what he photographed. Good luck in your search. Also, many of his photo's have been archived; so you might find others of interest to you. Sandy
