I am seeking information about John M. C. Caldwell. He is listed on page 442 of the 1840 Ross County Census, Springfield Township, along with Robert Caldwell. If this is the right John M. C. Caldwell, he was born in December 1830 and married Eliza C. Sewell in Crawford County, Missouri in 1852. John and Eliza had five boys. Their son, Robert Joseph Caldwell is my husband's grandfather. Robert, Got cut off my last message. Solomon Heater (Heter) purchased land from John and James Renick in 1811 Pickaway County, OH. He was also on Isaac Vanmeter's Will in VA. Solomon's father was Michael Heater who died in Hampshire Co. (W)VA 1796. Michael lived very close to Harness in VA. Thanks for any help Shirley

Unless you know her husband's name, the census won't help much. Only the head of household is named in those early years. 1850 is the first one which lists all members individually. You could probably check for that name online--the Miami Valley Gene. Index includes Ross Co. doesn't it?
