Here father was Anthony Raypole. We are all from Chillicothe, however, many of the Raypoles were located in Atlanta, OH which is above Clarksburg in Pickaway County. I know there are a lot of Raypoles buried in Schooley Station Cemetery which is east of Chillicothe near Concord Church Rd. off St. Rt 50 west. I would very much like to compare our Raypole lines. They surely tie since we are in the same area.

Surnames: Patton Henderson Ensminger Firey Moore Nowlin Cook Cox Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/VZB.2ACI/189 Message Board Post: I am looking for information on the following families (my gg-grandparents): George Thomas Patton who was born about 1817 in Ohio. He married Nancy Henderson (born in Ohio or possibly Indiana) May 12, 1841 in Jasper County, Missouri , while he was a resident of Dade County, Missouri. They were married by Rev. Anthony Brewley. They had at least two children: David Henderson Patton, born 9-28-1843 in Carthage, Jasper County, Missouri and John, born unknown. Nancy appears to have died in Dade County, Missouri in 1855 after which George seems to have married an Amanda Unknown and had the following children: Edward Patton, born about 1863, Donca Patton born about 1869, William Patton, born about 1871, Lessia Patton, born about 1873, Anna Patton, born about 1876 and Eugene Patton, born about 1878. George and Nancy’s son, John Patton, married a woman named Elizabeth who was born about 1831 in Delaware or Indiana and died after 1880. John was killed in the Civil War. The 1880 census shows her parents were both born in Delaware. John and Elizabeth had at least the following children: Fannie Patton, born about 1852 in Illinois, William Patton, born about 1854 in Missouri and John Patton, born March 1862 in Illinois, died 1955 in Bolivia, Christian County, Illinois. George and Nancy’s son, David Henderson Patton, married a woman named Martha Jane Ensminger about 1867 in Christian County, Illinois, daughter of George W. Ensminger and Catherine E. Firey. Martha Jane was born October 12, 1849 in Rochester, Sangamon County, Illinois and died May 6, 1928 in Bolivia, Christian County, Illinois. David Henderson Patton died 5-24-1934 in Bolivia, Christian County, Illinois; he was a farmer and had also served in the Civil War. Both David and Martha are buried in the Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Mt. Auburn, Christian County, Illinois. They had the following children: Albert Homer Patton, born 5-28-1871, George Washington Patton, born 4-29-1875, Lillie Catherine Patton, born 1872, William Richard Winston Patton, born 3-18-1877, Lewis Arthur Patton, born 4-3-1881, Bessie P. Patton, born 1-1885, Leslie Weldon Patton, born 8-11-1890 and Nellie Mae Patton, born 7-1893. I have recently found the following information, which I believe MUST tie into both of these lines, but have not been able to connect yet: 1) Matthew Patton was born in Scotland and was married May 6, 1802 in Greenbrier County, Virginia to Isabel Cockburn, daughter of Robert Cockburn of Glasgow, Scotland. Isabel was supposedly born on the sea between Scotland and the U.S. in 1776. Matthew and Isabel lived in Virginia for some time, then moved to Gallio County, Ohio. He served in the war of 1812 from Ohio. His family later came to Sangamon County, Illinois (which abuts Christian County, Illinois). Matthew and Isabel’s children were: Robert, John, George, Samuel, Agnes, Hanna, Mary, Elizabeth and Francis. Daughter Elizabeth was born in Gallio County, Ohio on August 31, 1814 and in 1832 married Charles Cameron Daigh, born 1-18-1808 in Mason County, Virginia. Charles came to Illinois is 1829 and settled near Springfield, Sangamon County, Illinois. He served in the Black Hawk war of 1831-32 under General Whitesides and took a homestead in Cooper Township (right next to Christian County), Sangamon ! County, Illinois. After he and Elizabeth were married, they moved to southwest Missouri in 1855 and settled near Mt. Vernon, Lawrence County. They lived there until 1861, then went to Christian County, Illinois and lived there until Charles died 9-11-1884. Elizabeth died in Parsons, Kansas on 2-1-1900. 2) David Henderson was born about 1758 in New Jersey and married a woman named Mary Unknown who was born about 1762 in New Jersey. They had the following childern: Catherine, born 1784, David, born about 1786, James, born 5-23-1790, Nathaniel, born about 1792, John, born about 1795, Charles, born 1797, Hugh “Smiley”, born 1-5-1801, Nancy, born 2-18-1802 and Edward, born about 1804. This is from Ross County, Ohio records and the father David Henderson died 8-12-1825 in Union Township, Ross County, Ohio. If anyone can help me tie these families together – or disprove that they do tie together, I would really appreciate the help and would be willing to share any information I have that may help someone else.
