    1. [OHROSS] Adams-Holdren ties
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Holdren-Adams Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VZB.2ACI/216 Message Board Post: I seek information on my great-grandparents, William Adams, born in Ohio in 1820, and Mary Holdren, born in Virginia in 1825 or so. They were married in Ross County, Ohio in the 1840s and soon after moved to Fayette County. The 1840 census suggests that the Holdrens and the Adamses lived on adjoining or nearby farms in Ross County. Were their fathers Enoch Holdren and Emanuel Adams? Did proximity make their children's hearts grow fonder? The census also suggests the family of one Archibald Holdren lived in the same vicinity. Can anyone shed more light on this? Martin Smith

    3. John, You should be able to find his will record at the Ross County Probate Court, Archives Division, 2 N. Paint Street, Chillicothe, Ohio 45601. Put it to the attention of "Janet". If you want to call first about anything the phone # is (740) 774-1179. (If you call there is a long "menu" but just hit the number for "archives" and Janet will answer.) It might also be available at the Chillicothe and Ross County Public Library,140-146 S. Paint St., Chillicothe, Ohio 45601. When I was still working there a few years ago, they had a staff member who looked up genealogy requests as time permitted. I would assume they still do. Their phone number is (740)702-4145.
