Hello All, I have some obits and death notices that were on the same copy as people in my family. I have no further information on these people, but I thought these may be of interest to some of you on the list. As I am unsure of what is the correct list to post each obit and notice to, I am posting to all the lists that I belong to. If anyone would like to advise me on whether this is acceptable or not, I'd appreciate the input as I have stacks of information to share that is not my family, but they are someone's and this is the only way that I know to get the information out. Feel free to email me. The 1870 census-Vermillion Co., Indiana lists Henry Longfellow and wife Mary (Fortner) as being born in Ohio. Have reference to other Fortner's in Ross Co. but this is the first mention of Longfellow's in Ohio. Have not found Longfellow in the 1860 census in Vermillion Co. as of today. Henry Longfellow was born in 1815 and Mary Fortner Longfellow was born in 1820. Children: Henry, Martha, Emiline, Caroline, Stephen and Nancy are listed in 1860. Stephen Longfellow was my ggggrandfather.

Henry BOARD married Ursula ACTON in Ross County in April 1841. I am looking to find any information about Henry that may exist in county records. My priority is to find his prior abode(s) before coming to Ross County. Census returns indicate Virginia - but where? BTW, Henry more often used BOARDS in his lifetime. -- tom board
Hi. I am wondering about access to records at the county courthouse. Are the records easily accessed by the public directly? Could I stroll in and pull a deed book from the shelf and page through it? If so, are there any records that are NOT accessible in this way? I ask because I am looking to survey deeds, court proceedings, probate records and any other documents available between about 1830 and 1870 in Ross County. I am willing to make a trip from Chicago if I could handle the process in a full day. Some courthouses I have visited give this sort of unrestricted access - some don't. Thanks for the advice. -- tom

Hi, I am very interested in your Edward. Was he born in DE? My gg grandfather was Richard WILLIAMS born in DE. He came to Ross County about 1820. In the 1840 Ross County census he was living in Union Twp. Page 347. I found Edward WILLIAMS on Page 349 and Edward B. WILLIAMS Page 353. They have to be related. I have been unable to find any information on Richard's family. Edward was not listed in the Ross County 1850 census but Richard is. I also found Edward WILLIAMS living in Meigs County Page 116 Salem Township in 1820. Do we have a connection? I need to locate the death record of Adonijah Miner, s/o Isaac and Mary (Butler) Miner. Adonijah was born in Woodbury, Litchfield Co., CT, 7 Jul 1766 and m. 1789 to Hannah Barber in Stamford, Ulster Co., NY (now Roxbury, Delaware Co., NY). Adonijah died 4 Oct 1821 in Ross Co.
