    3. Ackley cemetery transcriptions are at the Ross County OHGenWeb site. Thanks to the generosity of Denise in contributing the photos on her recent trip this week I will be adding the photos to the transcriptions with the next update. Photos should be online sometime next week. I will, as usual, send my monthly update report to the list board on what has been added and updated on the Ross county site. But for now you can view the inscriptions to this cemetery. 3. According to the Ackley Cemetery transcription on the Ross OHGenWeb site, this cemetery is located on the north side of State Route 327, less than a quarter-mile west of the Ross/Vinton County line. You would need to take 327 north east of Londonderry and it should be on the left hand side 1/4 mile before you hit the Vinton Co. Line. I don't need (or want) any original records, just verification (or the opposite) of my data. Transcriptions would be nice. Samuel Johnson b 22 May 1812, Chillicothe, Ohio married 28 Mar 1837 in Ross Co, Ohio Eliza Jane Carson 5 Nov 1818 born 5 Nov 1818. They and their family move to Iowa about 1865. Samuel was a teacher in Ohio. Samuel's parents were Nathaniel Johnson born 1768 in Ireland married in 1803 to Nancy Carson born Abt 1779 in PA. She died 12 Jul 1862 in Chillicothe, OH. I have nothing at all on her parents. Eliza Jane Carson's father was Ebenezer Carson, born Jan 1786 in Lancaster Co., PA, was married in 1812 in Ross Co., Ohio to Nancy Berry, also of Pennsylvania. Eliza and Samuel's daughter was Sarah Margaret Johnson b. 5 Mar 1843 in Chillicothe. I have quite a bit of life story on Sarah and Samuel, including a short autobiography by Sarah, but I have little but Bible records some not fully trustworthy IGI files. Anyone care to help me out?

    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Kepler, Livengood, McCoy, Newland, Penwell, Haines, Jett, Robbins, Baker, Hardy, Crites, Potts, Morris, Murphy, Ford, Mast, Estle, Rutter, Killworth, Jackson, Beatty Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VZB.2ACI/668 Message Board Post: DNA male participants Y-chromosome testing project. I am very excited about this project and hope other KEPLERS will join our DNA Project. It is my belief that the KEPLERs in the USA are from one common ancestor. The sooner we get started the sooner we could have results that could possibly break down walls for all of us with our KEPLER ancestors or at least give us a clue of where to go next. The surname Kepler has several spelling variations: Keplar, Keppler, Kepner, Capler and Kessler. The first Keplers were found in the first census in 1790 and men with the Kepler surname are found in the Pennsylvania Archives who served in the American Revolutionary War. These Keplers were located in the states of Maryland and Pennsylvania and from there have spread out all over the United States. As I stated above it is our believe that all Keplers in America have a common ancestor. This is what this DNA Project is about to help us prove this theory and to find out where our/your fingerprint origins began. At this time we are asking for other male KEPLER decendants to participants in this project that are not related to Jacob, Emery Hall, or Thomas Aaron Kepler to join our DNA Project so we can trace this family's line back in time About the Project: - A report on the participant's genetic DNA, which is very close (and sometimes identical) to the earliest known ancestor - A classification of the participant's "deep" ancestry, which gives insight into the prehistoric origins of your surname ancestors - A sense of camaraderie with all who participate in the Family Project, which is particularly strong for those who share a genetic ancestry - Stimulation to family research and sharing of information - A wider sense of identity and relationship, as we begin to realize how much we are a World Family. - A chance to compare your genetic ancestry with those of the Surname and the Variant Spellings - Locates the genetic matches that do not share your common surname The process is simple, a kit will be provided, you swab the inside of your mouth and send in the sample. Our line began with the 25 marker test, but you can begin with the 12. The surname project pricing is: 12 marker Y-DNA* test $99 + $4 (USA) 12 to 25 Marker Upgrade $49 12 to 37 Marker Upgrade $99 12 to 59 Marker Upgrade $189 25 Marker Y-DNA* test $148 + $4 (USA) 25 to 37 Marker Upgrade $49 25 to 59 Marker Upgrade $148 37 Marker Y-DNA* test $189 + $4 (USA) 59 Marker Y-DNA* test $269 + $4 (USA) 37 to 59 Marker Upgrade $99 You might think of sharing the cost of doing this DNA Project by selecting one male KEPLER from your line to take the test and then each person researching your line dividing the cost of which ever kit you decide on by the number of people researching. This may be a way to get more people involved in the project. Anyone interested should contact me by email - Geo at giglet01@yahoo.com All surnames listed above are surnames associated with our line of KEPLERs. It doesn't matter if you do not recognize any of the surnames in this line we could still be related through, brothers, uncles, and so on. There is only one way to find out if we are related and that is to join the KEPLER DNA Project to prove it. 1. Old Maps needed
    2. Marjorie L. Gilliam Wood
    3. If anyone has any old maps (2006 back to 16??) the Gallia County Historical and Genealogical Society would be interested in acquiring a copy or an original of them for a new project. They need to be clear 8 1/2 x 11. Larger maps might work if they could be sized down to an 8 1/2 x 11 size and still be readable. Full size maps won't work because it will be difficult to read if sized down to 8 1/2 x 11 inches. We need maps of Gallia, Jackson, Vinton, Lawrence, Meigs, Athens, Washington and any other counties in Ohio. We would also be interested in maps from West Virginia, Virginia, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, North Carolina or any of the New England States. Other states would also be helpful because many people traveled down the river and overland to the west, especially Illinois, Indiana and onward west. These maps can be new or old, preferably old ones so we can trace migration routes. The Ohio River and Kanawha River maps would also be good. JUST REMEMBER, THESE MAPS WILL BE ON A 8 1/2 X 11 sheet of paper and they will be black and white, gray tones. THEY WILL NEED TO BE CLEAR AND SIZED TO WORK. If interested in helping in this map project send a copy, not an email, CD or floppy but a printed copy or an original map to: The Gallia County Historical and Genealogical Society at 412 Second Avenue, Gallipolis, Ohio 45631. This is just another project to help researcher in and around the Gallia County, Ohio area. If you would like more information on this project contact the society office at 740-446-7200 or you can email me privately. Marjorie L. 1. William H. Wendell/Windell & Sarah J. DeLong descendants
    2. William and Sarah (DeLong) Wendell lived in Huntington Twp. from about 1845 until his death in 1923. They were married in 1858. Known children were : Mary E. (b.1860, m.Lewis Toops) Harriet A. (b.1862, m.John Spindler) Celestia (b.1864, m.William Chester) William (b.1874, d.1875) Amanda Clara (b.1877, m.George Farney) Anna E. (b.1879, m.Charles F. Adams) William Wendell was a younger brother of my ancestor John Wendell, b.1819, who lived in Guernsey County. Their father Daniel Wendell (1790-1850) is buried in the old cemetery by the Pentecostal Church on Denver Road. I'd love to hear from any William Wendell descendants, and I'll be glad to share the rest of the Wendell genealogy that I have (which is substantial). I'd also like to hear from anyone who has the DeLong ancestry -- this Sarah Jane DeLong was undoubtedly connected to the DeLongs of Guernsey County who also intermarried with Wendells there. Thanks!
