The United Brethren became the Evangelical United Brethren and in the 1960s became part of the United Methodist Church. My great-grandparents Myron Eugene VAN SCOY (1850-1934) and Sarah Adaline (HUBLEY) Van Scoy (1857-1930) were members of a United Brethren congregation in Richland County, Ohio. I *think* it was the Bloominggrove church and was located on the south side of Base Line Road (which separates Huron and Richland counties) near its intersection with the Rome-Greenwich Road. My great-grandmother's obituary says, "In her young girlhood she united with the United Brethren Church, and has always been an earnest consecrated Christian, with good will ever doing her best to follow in the footsteps of the Christ whom she loved." (She was born in Shenandoah, Richland County.) My great-grandfather's obituary says he "was baptized in 1885 and became a member of the United Brethren Church of Bloomingrove, in which church he took an active part for many years." One of my ancestors, John Dorcas, was an early minister of the church in RCO. Is it still a church with a congregation? Or what denomination did it morph into? Is it in any way connected with the Quakers? What were its principal tenets? Where can I get more information about it?
