Source: RICHLAND SHIELD & BANNER 25 January 1896, Vol. LXXVIII, No. 37 Friday Pennsylvania yard foreman Martin Biddle at noon today received the sad intelligence that his brother, Joseph Biddle, had been killed at Burton City. The deceased was employed on the Pennsylvania section. He was struck by passenger train No. 31 at 9:45 this morning. The deceased was a married man, 24 years of age. Mr. Biddle leaves at 6:40 tonight for Burton City. Adam Smith, who is employed by Branyan Bros., yesterday received a telegram announcing that his wife's brother had died suddenly at his home in Indiana. Mrs. Smith left last night to attend the funeral. Mr. Smith accompanied his wife to the depot and when he returned home another telegram was awaiting him, stating that his sister, residing in Eaton Rapids, Mich., was dead. Mr. Smith went to Eaton Rapids today.
