RUFFIN, S.C. - William Bernard Moran, 82, husband of Elbertie Newman Curry-Moran, died Sunday, January 26, 2003, at Colleton Medical Center. Funeral services will be private. Mr. Moran was born September 10, 1920, in Crestline, Ohio, a son of Jennie Baker Moran and William Paul Moran. He was a graduate of San Jose State University and received a Masters Degree from Stanford University. He was a US Navy veteran of World War II and was a Pearl Harbor Survivor. He was aboard the USS Phoenix during the Pearl Harbor attack and was a member of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association and the USS Phoenix Association. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion Post 401 in Caledonia, Ohio. He retired in 1982 as an account manager of Continental Insurance Corporation, Marion, Ohio. Surviving in addition to his wife of Ruffin are: two step-sons, Randall L. Curry of Marion, Ohio, and Bradley L. Curry of Caledonia, Ohio; and, 3 grandchildren. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society, Post Office Box 443, Beaufort, South Carolina 29901. COPELAND FUNERAL HOME is in charge of arrangements.
