On March 4, 1921, in Ashland, Ohio, Mr. Strickling was born to the late Alexander Sweeney and Bertha Trader Strickling. He had been a lifelong resident of Ashland County working at Mansfield Tire for 20 years. Formerly Mr. Strickling was a licensed physical therapist in the Ashland area during the 1940s and 50s. He enjoyed flea markets and was a musician in numerous bands. On May 23, 1943, Mr. Strickling married Evelyn M. Wolfe, who preceded him in 1995. Mr. Strickling was also preceded by 12 siblings. Surviving Mr. Strickling are a son, Stanley Strickling of Ashland; a grandson, Todd (Wendy) Strickling of Jeromesville; a granddaughter, Angie (Alan) Smith-Dail of Wooster; eight great-grandchildren; a sister of the Norwalk area; and his extended family of Mark and Jamey Roland, Melissa Brockway, and Nicole Roland, all of Ashland. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, 2007, at Heyl Funeral Home, 227 Broad St., Ashland, conducted by Pastor Wayne Mullet, with interment at Ashland Cemetery. Friends may visit with the family Sunday 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The family suggests memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of North Central Ohio, 1050 Dauch Dr., Ashland, Ohio 44805.
