Richland Co., Ohio USGenWeb Site Update 06 December 2007 <> http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohrichla/ NEWS & NOTES: Thanks to all who were concerned by my two week absence. The first week was spent preparing for and hosting Thanksgiving for my family. The second week was spent Christmas shopping, attending a couple of Christmas parties, finishing up some homemade quilted gifts and celebrating my birthday! There's so much to do this time of year. Thanks to Dina for creating name indexes for the 1880, 1910, 1914, 1920, 1925 and 1931 Shenandoah tax map sets, the 1870 Butler Twp. map set and the 1914, 1925 and 1931 Bloominggrove Twp. tax map set. All of the maps on the Tax Map CD's have been posted to the site. We are still in need of a few more volunteers to help index them. While there are some indexes on the map images, they are not searchable through our search engine. A few volunteers have really done a wonderful job of creating typed indexes for some of these map sets so that other researchers can find maps with their surnames of interest. Keep this project in mind, and after the holiday maybe you can help us out. It would be nice to get this project finished up - and we still need help. Obituary Index (RCOI) is an index to obituaries that are appearing daily in the Mansfield News Journal. To access the indexes, go to the OBITUARIES page at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohrichla/Obituaries.htm then look on the right side of the page under the heading, Obituary Indexes. The index starts with Feb. 20, 2002 and includes entries up to the present year. I usually update the index every two or three months. Once you know the date that the obituary appeared in the paper, you can contact the Sherman Room (genealogy room) at the Mansfield/Richland County Public Library to request a photocopy of it. The prices are quite reasonable. You can find details of ordering obituaries if you scroll down to the middle of the Obituaries page.
