    1. [OHRICHLA] Exhume a body for a DNA test
    2. Margaret James
    3. Hello listers, Has anyone had a body exhumed in Ohio for the purpose of getting a DNA test? I want to have my gg-grandfather Alexander Adams tested. He was buried in Mansfield Cemetery in 1920 and left no will. I have already had descendants tested of Richland Co residents John Adams & Daniel Adams who I am quite sure were brothers of Alex. The three descendants tested out exactly the same. There are no direct-line living male descendants of Alex to test, that is why I want to have Alex dug up. I understand in Ohio this has to be handled by a lawyer. And permission obtained "of all persons who would have been entitled to inherit from the decedent under Chapter 2105. of the Revised Code if the decedent had died intestate" The lawyer I consulted charges $150 an hour so I would like to find out as much as I can before I have to start paying him. I have 8 people still living in generation 4, counting Alex Adams as gen 1. Does this mean that for each generation 4 person who is deceased, I have to have permission from their children, gen 5? If gen 5 is deceased, then permission from gen 6 & so on? If so, that is going to be an awful lot of people to get permission from. I was just hoping someone else had already done this and could give me some guidance. Apparently this is state law and not just for Richland Co. Margaret James
