Dear Listers, A few weeks ago we were talking about the men who left for the gold rush and someone mentioned an article "The Lure of Gold" published in the Norwalk paper. I wrote to the library there and got a copy of the article. Even though it was published in the paper, it was taken from Henry Timman's book "Just Like Old Times" Book 1, 1972-1974 so I am not sure about the copy rights so will just list the names mentioned and if anyone wants the whole article (it is only 1 page), you can email me for my address and send me a SASE and I'll send you a copy or you can write to Norwalk Public Library, 46 W Main St, Norwalk OH 44857 and get a copy for $1. Ask for the copy from the book, it is easier to read. It appeared in the Norwalk Reflector, June 14, 1974, pg 4. Names in the order they appear in the article: John Howlett, a butcher; Enoch Jenny, son of Obadiah; Mr Childs of Greenfield; Dr Kittredge; Dr Salisbury of Norwalk; SD Carkhuff of Norwalk; Mr Lee of Fairfield; Hubbel of Monroeville; Grosh & Walker of Milan; sons of Shepherd Patrick; Lewis Sturges, son of Thaddeus & Thaddeus; Charles Goodrich; Joshua H Drake; Delano & Charles Henry Patrick; John H McArdle; EB Atherton; AW Lee of Bronson; Ira Seymour; Barton Lee; Reuben Burras of Fairfield. Twenty men left Sandusky for the Klondike in Alaska in Feb 1898: JE Snevely; Frank Adelman of Norwalk; HV Zuercher of Norwalk; William Cowen, J Livengood & Ross Livengood of Milan. Margaret
