Hi, A couple years ago, a kind researcher on this list sent me information about land that a Regannah SMITH deeded to her son, Cornelius. We considered the possibility that this Regannah SMITH could be my ggg grandmother, Rowena or Regina SMITH, who lived in Richland Co. We thought that, since records I know to be my ggg grandmother's spelled her name as differently as "Rowena" and "Regina," that it would make sense to consider that "Regannah" could also been a spelling in the records of my ggg grandmother's name. I have no idea which is the correct spelling, but want to consider all possibilities. This week a Smith researcher contacted me with new clues, so I am again trying to research the various SMITH clues. My ggg grandmother and her daughter, my gg grandmother, Maria/Mariah SMITH, moved to Richland Co. from Stark Co. in the 1840s sometime after the death of Maria's father, Jeremiah SMITH. Probably the only reason a widow and her daughter would have moved such a distance is that they must have had family in Richland Co. There is a Jeremiah SMITH listed in the 1840 Census who was exactly the right age to be my gg grandmother, Maria SMITH's brother. It's very possible that this Jeremiah SMITH and other siblings could have been the reason my gg grandmother and her mother moved to Richland Co. after the death of Maria's father, Jeremiah SMITH in Stark Co. I would be tremendously grateful for any information list members may have and would love to find cousins who may be members of this list.
