LEXINGTON -- Dale W. Brinley, 71, of Lexington, died Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Born May 2, 1936, in Mansfield, he was the son of Jay and Sophia Schelk Brinley. An area resident all his life, he had worked at Stimmlers Bakery as a professional baker and Otterbaucher's in Crestline as a finish carpenter. Dale retired after 40 years in the bak- ery business. He was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ where he served as an elder, sang in the choir and volunteered for various activities. A true family man, Dale enjoyed golfing and attending his grandchildren's sporting activities. Dale was a genuine person, always putting others first. His family remembered how he could fix most anything, and how he gently provided a helping hand in their lives. Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Olga Noble Brinley; a daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Butch Ballard of Ontario; a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher and Cheryl Brinley of Navarre; four grandchildren, Ashley and Abbey Ballard of Ontario and Brittany and Joshua Brinley of Navarre; two sisters, Doris (Lester) Gillum of Mansfield and Pat (Ken) Whitner of Ontario; two brothers, Russell (Rita) Brinley of Mansfield and Keith (Betty) Brinley of Ontario; a sister-in-law, Annabelle Brinley of Johnsville; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Roy, Stanley and Earl Brinley; and two sisters, Glenda Phipps and JoAnn Whisler. Friends may call 6-9 p.m. Friday, June 29, at the Ontario Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 30, at the funeral home, with visitation one hour prior to the services. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Lon McSherley.
