    3. Hi Ann. My husband is a direct descendent of the Francis Ashton and Elizabeth MacKinder that you mention. The information that I have about them comes mostly from a Joyce Hughes and Ruth Ashton who did the actual research. The other two you mention are such common first names, but I have nothing connected to the wives you list. Francis Ashton and Elizabeth MacKinder came from England to Richland County to Hardin County to Allen County -- specifically Lima. Their children as I have them are: Christopher (died as a baby), William, Charles F., Dr. Edwin Earl, Christopher (Christ), Francis Mackinder Ashton, Eliza, Henry Mackinder Ashton, John Rudgard (J.R.) Ashton and Ruth Ann. My husband goes through the Dr. Edwin Earl Ashton line. Dr. Ashton was a surgeon in the Civil War and later owned a pharmacy in Lima. We have an article and picture concerning his 'battle' with the temperance women of the times which is kind of humorous. Dr. Ashton fathered Charles Ashton (m Ara Flager) who fathered Edwin Earl Ashton Sr. (m Martha Bigelow) who fathered James (Jim) Arlington Ashton (m Madonna Winke). Everyone in this short listing is deceased except my father-in-law, Jim. I'm certainly willing to share anything that I have which might help, but I am no expert on the Ashtons; I mostly only have what has been handed down from Joyce Hughes and Ruth Ashton. On the other hand, I do have some Athertons in my McIntosh line. Do we connect there? The McIntosh family is highly organized and work together through a lot of different lines and colateral lines. Hope to hear more from you.
