Author: neverrains Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.counties.richland/1325/mb.ashx Message Board Post: 1850 census in Cass twp has a SAREPTA HOPKINS living with WILLIAM and MARTHA REYNOLDS. 1860 census, she is not listed, so she must have died within those 10 years. Would love to find out more about SAREPTA as when she died, where she died and buried. Who was her husband and data on him? The BLM land records show a DANIEL HOPKINS in Richland county in 1826 and was from Washington county PA. But don't find anything else. Can anyone help? 1. [OHRICHLA] Roll Call Rules & Notes from the Admin. (Amy)
    2. Our Richland Co. list is a fairly quiet list -- generating only a few messages a month. So, when someone calls for a "roll call" it can upset some people who are not used to the number of e-mails that suddenly come flooding into their e-mail boxes. Up to now we have had no formal written rules in our list guidelines about "roll calls". But we generally want to limit them to no more than once every 4-5 months. Between roll calls, you can always check the Researcher Directory at our website to look for others researching your surnames ... http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohrichla/Directory.htm Please DO change the subject line of the message so that it contains the SURNAMES that you are researching. Keep it focused on your Richland Co. ancestors only -- along with those who lived in areas that later became part of Ashland Co., Crawford Co., etc. And remember, IF you have a problem with something a listmember is doing - please contact the list administrator AmyeA@aol.com privately about that listmember. I will take up the issue with that listmember directly. 1. Re: [OHRICHLA] Leiter, Pittenger, Ohl
    2. Lutie, I know of two Pittinger families. One person Winifred Pittinger was my principal when I was in grade school, well actually she is part of the Pittengers of Waterville Ohio in Lucas County. Then there were some Pittingers who lived by my Third Great Grandparents and GG Uncle in Wayne County Ohio. One of them took in a indentured 8 year old girl back in the 1820s. check list of the indentured of that county for back then. The father lost his wife and he couldn't take care of two children and my Great Great Great Uncle John Cripliver took in the 5 year old boy to teach him a trade of coopering and chair caning till the boy was 18 years old, then he gave the boy the tools of his trade and the boy went on his way. the girls who were indentured by parents who couldnt take care of them were taught to be either governesses or household helpers. 1. Re: [OHRICHLA] TRUCKS, BOWERS , Native American
    2. Chamberlins
    3. These would likely be in Blooming Grove and Plymouth townships and across the line in Huron County. The Trucks may or may not have stopped in Knox County. The appear in the 1810-1820 time frame and leave by 1840. My Bowers great great grandmother was partly Native American (by family history, obituary and her mother's census records) and her mother Mary Ann seems to have had Trucks as a last name (Huron County Marriage Record) and was born in 1814. So I may be dealing with an unrecorded set of events from the War of 1812 period. Trucks may be Trux or other forms, and Bowers is sometimes Bower Bauer or Bauers. My Bowers is Silas, sone of Silas and Marvell, brother of Clarissa.
