    1. [OHRICHLA] Looking for graves with no markers
    2. SF
    3. Someone recently wrote about looking for Seaman graves in the Mansfield cemetery, and not being able to find them because there weren't any markers. I have found that if I take the Mansfield Cemetery books along with me, and look up names on the markers that are there, I can find the spot where the graves must be. It makes it a lot easier to navigate the large areas. Suzie

    3. I have Crozier's in my Backensto family Tree. William Crozier born in 1826 came to Richland Co from Juanita PA. He was married to Eveline Shamp of Wayne Co Ohio. They had 11 children 6 of whom died young. The remaining children were Charles, Albert, Mary, Annie and Emma who married John E. Backensto,The latter lived in Bloominggrove Twp. Richalnd Co Ohio. I would look into the records of Where William originated. Best of luck, Randi "J.C.T. Pool" <jctpool@mac.com> wrote: I am interested in any information about Crozier families that lived in or near Shiloh, Richland Co, OH starting about 1840. In particular, I am interested in the family with mother, Abigail (Abby, Abbie), and children, Samuel, James, Elizabeth, and Mary. However, information about other families may be useful. My objective is determining the parents of Samuel Crozier, reportedly born 24 Dec 1842 in Shiloh, Richland Co, OH. 2. Hi Shelly, I live in Brooklyn, NY and I have been doing lookups at Green-Wood Cemetery for many years. A lot of markers have sunk into the ground because they are not put on a good foundation as they are today. Also some familles didn't have money to buy a stone even in a large family. Asking the cemetery to search and dig it up could be expensive. But.... Peter ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

    1. [OHRICHLA] Nicholas J. Ziegler
    2. MANSFIELD -- Nicholas J. Ziegler, 88, died Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2007. Nicholas died at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born Dec. 19, 1918, in Ebendorf, Romania, he was the son of George and Elizabeth Swick Ziegler. He was a 1937 graduate of Ontario High School where he was active in the first championship basketball tournament for the Ontario High School. His team made up of mostly farm boys enjoyed the new experience of the hotel by staying up all night, turning the light switches on and off, taking showers and flushing toilets. They filled up on all the delicious food in the hotel restaurant. After the fun of the night before, the exhausted team lost the game. He loved all kinds of sports, but his favorite was baseball. At one time, he held the record for the longest hit home run at Liberty Park. He was granted a scholarship at Ashland College but had to decline as his family needed his financial assistance. He followed St. Peter's basketball team and was an usher for many years. He parked cars for the Madison Home football games and enjoyed their games. His favorite college team was the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame. He retired from the Tappan Company and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. His Catholic faith was very important to him. He was past president of Independent Stove Workers Union, past treasurer of Tappan Credit Union, a member of the Quarter Century Club and aa member of the Sons of Herman. He married Pauline Magdeline Studer on Aug. 8, 1943, and she survives. Pauline has had Alzheimer's for the last 16 years, and Nick was her caregiver for all but the last 2 1/2 years. He will be sadly missed by his five children who are very important to him: two daughters, Judy (Gerald) Phillips of Galion and Mary (Peter) Leicht of Mansfield; three sons, Larry (Emily) Ziegler, John (Marlene) Ziegler and Robert Ziegler, all of Mansfield; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, George Thomas Ziegler. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, celebrated by Father Keith McCormack. Burial will follow in Mansfield Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Diamond Street Home of Wappner Funeral Directors. A vigil service will be held during the evening calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mass Intentions, Alzheimer's Association or the charity of the donor's choice. 3. This is a link to a wonderful site http://www.archive.org/index.php where you can search for "out of copyright" publications. If you put the term " the parish registers of England" without quotation marks and just read the first result, you will find an excellent insight into our parish registers, their history, content and extracts. Answers many questions asked of late. Have got to page 170 of the book myself so far. Do a general search "genealogy England" and you get three pages of results.... may be something there if you are researching other counties too. some of the texts have shiplists such as 1635] y PORT OF LONDON. 61 th Aprill 1635 JN the Eliza. . 1. [OHRICHLA] William Harvey "Bill" Cleland
    2. LEXINGTON -- William Harvey "Bill" Cleland, 90, formerly of Fox Road, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007, at Woodlawn Health Care and Rehabilitation after a long illness. He was born July 17, 1917, in Lexington to Hoyt and Nettie Brown Cleland, and was graduated from Lexington High School in 1934. On Aug. 30, 1941, he married Grace E. Healea Cleland, with whom he would spend 65 years. Grace preceded him in death on Monday, Feb. 12, 2007. During WW II, Bill served in New York City in the New York Port of Embarkation with the U.S. Army's Postal Detachment, and held qualification of the US Rifle 1917 Marksman 145. When the former Page Dairy offered retail home delivery service, Bill was the dependable and friendly driver who ensured fresh dairy products were delivered door-to-door. He later delivered to retail outlets and grocers when Babcock's assumed the operation of the Dairy. He worked for the dairy a combined 31 years. Mondays were his bowling league nights at the former Colonial Lanes, downtown Mansfield. Bill closely followed the Cleveland Indians and was a fixture at most Lexington High School sporting events. He meticulously served the Lexington Local School District nearly ten years as a custodian. With that same fastidious care, Bill maintained his home, and his lawn was the envy of his Fox Road neighbors. Bill was a member of Lexington Presbyterian Church, and a former member of L exington Kiwanis Club. An avid hunter, Bill joined a group of Mansfielders on annual expeditions to Lake Magnetawan in Canada. A classic gentleman, there "just wasn't anybody he didn't like," Bill will be remembered for his genuine kindness and gentle nature. He is survived by son and daughter-in-law, William Allen and Sue Cleland of Lexington; grandchildren, Amber Cleland of Lexington and Drew and Kim Cleland of Fairfield; a great-granddaughter, Alyssa Faith Cleland; a sister, Emma Whetstone of Evansville, Ind.; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Morris Cleland, and a sister, Anna Hicks. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, from Noon to 2 p.m. in the Lexington Avenue Snyder Funeral Home, where the funeral service will follow at 2 p.m. The Rev. Chris Thomas will officiate. Burial will follow in Lexington Cemetery, where American Legion Post #535 will hold graveside military honors. Memorial contributions to Diamond Hills Baptist Church may be made at the funeral home.
