Hi Sharon, This site will tell you about GAR. _http://www.suvcw.org/_ (http://www.suvcw.org/) The lot is where all three of them are buried. <<Can you tell me what the GAR, Lot 78 means in relation to this family?>> You will have to check here to see if anyone has pictures. _http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohrichla/_ (http://www.rootsweb.com/~ohrichla/) I would take them, but I don't have plans to be in Ontario any time soon. I am trying to find someone who might be willing to take some photos at the Ontario Cemetery for me. If someone would be willing to do this, please contact me with a cost estimate, and I will send you the rest of the information. My GGGreat Grandparents are buried in that cemetery, as well as their 2 sons and a daughter in law. I have the Section, Row and Lot numbers for the gravesites. Thanks so much, Sharon Wilcox wilcoxphoto@dmci.net
Thanks so much for this information. I did not have any of it before. Abraham and Sarah are my GGGreat Grandparents. I have a small Bible that belonged to their son, John M. who was killed in the Civil War. Can you tell me what the GAR, Lot 78 means in relation to this family? The Morgan and Ameliz in Row 8 would be their son and daughter in law. Do you know if there are photos of this cemetery online? Thanks again, so very much, for taking the time to send me this information. I really appreciate it. ! ! Sharon.....Have you looked up website for Random Acts of Genealogical Kindness? A wonderful volunteer in Richland County took some wonderful pictures for me at Mount Olivet Cemetery there and emailed them to me.....Not sure what volunteers are listed for that county right now or what they have listed they can do, but it would be worth checking out if you haven't already done so....Happy hunting....Sherry in Texas Bill Wilcox <wilcoxphoto@dmci.net> wrote: I am trying to find someone who might be willing to take some photos at the Ontario Cemetery for me. His three sons continued the business (still there) and lived to be nearly 100. They also built the organ for the new St. Peter's Church in Mansfield in 1915. Your relatives don't show on the SS Index ... http://ssdi.rootsweb.com/ ... but there is one Mary Schantz listed for Ohio, possibly a daughter? It's unlikely anyone born before 1880 would have a social security number, but it's possible. A lot of people, especially immigrants, never signed up for SS in the early days (the 1930s) because they considered it a kind of "welfare." At any rate, you might consider making inquiries in Orrville, since the Schantz family has been there for well over 130 years now. Thanks for contacting me. I have James J Pendry (spouse Jane Andrews) born 1823 "in New York" and died Larimer Co Colorado also. Do you have any siblings for him? I have an Eleanor Pendry 50 yrs old who is boarding with James & Jane in the 1870 Crawford Co census. Could this be a sister to James? This is all I have except for the info that James's father Robert was born 1787 (where?) and mother Elizabeth Duncan born 1790 (where?). James has a daughter Elizabeth Jane who married James Perry Chance. I don't have additional siblings for Elizabeth Jane so I would be very happy to receive additional info about the Pendry family! In 1900, Nelli Hoover(b.Aug. 1889) is living with Ephram Pace (grandfather). Maud (Mand)(b.Aug. 1889) is also living with them (granddaughter of Ephram) along with Caroline (b. July 1873) (daughter of Ephram). It also states that the father of Nelli and Maud was born in Virginia and the mother in Utah. I found a Frank Hoover in the 1880 census living with mother Kate Hoover, brothers Henry Hoover, and Lewis Hoover, sisters Mary Hoover and Kattie Hoover. Does anyone know about this family or connect into this family. I have hit a dead end on my search and am now just trying to eliminate Frank Hoover's from the 1880 census. My Frank Hoover came from Colorado to Utah in about 1885 or 1886. He married in 1887 to Olive Etta Pace and later that year had a daughter Kathleen (Katie), then twin girls in 1889 Nellie Pearl and Ruby Maude. He disappears around the first part of 1890 never to my knowledge to be heard from again. Would love to connect this Frank in Shelby, Richland, Ohio or at least cross him off the list.
