Samuel1 Cobb was born on 25 August 1716 in Wales.1 He married Mary Hinkley.1 He married Hannah Bicknell on 11 April 1749.1 He died on 6 April 1781 at age 64.1 He was also known as Dr. Samuel Cobb.1 Emigrated to New England, where he remained for a time at Barnstable, near Cape Cod, Massachusetts. In 1743 he removed to Tolland, Connecticut, and was a celebrated physician and magistrate.1 Mary Hinkley died on 9 December 1746.1 There were no known children of Samuel1 Cobb and Mary Hinkley. Samuel3 Cobb (David2, Samuel1) was born on 2 June 1785.2,1 He married Harriet Sheldon, daughter of Oliver Sheldon, on 1 June 1820.1 He died on 22 December 1852 in Portage County, Ohio, at age 67.2 He was buried in Eastlawn Cemetery, Mantua Township, Portage County, Ohio; Formerly of Suffield, Connecticut.2 Samuel purchased several hundred acres of land in the Western Reserve, and in June 1833 removed with his family to Mantua Township, locating on Lot 19, known as 'Cobb's Corners,' a postoffice being established there, of which Mr. Cobb was Postmaster for seventeen years receiving his commission from Amos Kendall, Postmaster-General under Andrew Jackson.1 Harriet Sheldon died on 16 December 1860.1 The three known children of Samuel3 Cobb and Harriet Sheldon were as follows: + 4. i.
