Happy New Year! Well, I am truly stumped on this fellow and I am turning once again to the wonderful folks that make the Portage County mailing list so great. Lewis CROCKER was born about 1844 / 45, in Ohio. He was a member of the "Summit and Portage County Pioneers Association", according to the book "Shadows of the Past", which, I believe, was written about Stow, Ohio. Lewis CROCKER was married to Elizabeth (Libby) Kepler who was from Green Twp, which was at that time in Stark (now Summit) County, Ohio. Libby Kepler Crocker died in 1897, and Lewis was killed when his automobile was struck by a streetcar 30 April, 1917 in Akron or Kent, Ohio. He lived in Stow at the time, and it seems he was remarried, but I do not have his second wife's name. Driving his automobile at the time of the accident was Lewis' son Harry CROCKER. A Louis PALMER was the person who filed suit against the N.O.T Company because of the death of Lewis CROCKER. Does anyone out there know who Lewis Crocker's parents might be? Or anything at all about this family? I suspect he may be related to some of the other CROCKERs that lived in Portage County in the early 1800s, but this is just a guess at the moment. I'd love to hear from anyone researching the Crockers (or Palmers) in this area. Thanks! Kathy Funk [email protected] P.S. Don't forget to make a back up of your database.... just in case!
