Hey everyone. I've been getting lots of requests about the CD that I mentioned. I was looking at the CD and realized some things about it. First of all, this CD is far from being exhaustive. The population of Ravenna is listed as 3500, but I counted the number Ravenna residents listed, and there is only about 300 or so. That means that only about 10 percent of the residents are included. That's kind of disappointing, but at least SOME families are listed. I've gotten lots of requests for lookups, but only one person has asked me about a name that is actually included! Also, while some entries give children listed, it is unclear how old the children are. They may be adult children living there. I'm not sure. And, get this-- I was looking through the rest of the cities, and Ravenna is NOT the only Portage county city that is included! This also includes Hiram and Kent! I didn't realize that at first. It is a city directory featuring several different cities in northeast Ohio. Among them, it features Ravenna. Ravenna is the only city in Portage county that is featured on this CD. I bought it hoping to find some of my family, but I haven't found any of them in there. It is not a complete city directory (since none of my family is there), but it does have many of the families living in Ravenna in 1888. It appears to give the head of the family, the wife and any children living there. It also gives the street they were living on. This could be helpful since the 1890 census was destroyed.
