Hi William: The First Settlers of Portage County is part of the Portage County Gen. Society. In order to join First Settlers you must be a member of the Gen. Society. Dues are $10 for an individual, $12 for two people at the same address, and you get an informative newsletter as well. Send your dues, name, address, email, phone, and Surname List (if you want to) to Portage County Chapter, OGS, PO Box 821, Ravenna OH, 44266. Request an application for First Settlers. I will send you an application with instructions. The application for First Settlers has a one time fee of $15.00. You can have as many ancestors as you can prove and add them at any time for this one time fee. The cut off for the year 2000, is June 1.
