I'm looking for info about David Giddings, who lived in Franklin Mills, upper village, between about 1837 and 1840. He married Charlotte Barton on 29 Nov 1835 in Portage County. Charlotte was born 27 Sep 1807 in Mansfield, Tolland, CT. Charlotte's father, Elkanah Barton, died in CT in 1829, and her mother, Ann Starkweather, seems to have died in the early thirties. Charlotte had a brother, Horace Barton (married Belinda Gore in 1835), who was in Streetsboro in the mid thirties (and witnessed Charlotte's will in 1840), and a sister, Laura Barton (married Rufus E. Beman), who seems to have been in Franklin Mills in 1840. Charlotte, ill after the birth of a child, Darwin Barton Giddings, died 28 Jan 1840. Darwin died 23 Mar 1840, aged 2 months. Both were buried in Stow Street Cemetery. In 1840, after the deaths of his wife and child, David Giddings sold his house. Apparently he left Portage County. Any information or clues as to where he came from and where he went will be greatly appreciated! Jeff
