I am seeking information about James M. HALL, resident of Shalersville, Portage County, OH in 1850. In early Census records, James is listed as a farmer. Later in life, he is listed as a farm laborer. Sometime after 1850, James and his wife Lydia moved to Chautauqua County, NY where his 3 married daughters resided. The connection between Shalersville, OH and Chautauqua, NY is a mystery, but for some reason, all 3 duaghters married residents of NY. James M. HALL died and is buried in the Pecor Cemetery, Portland, Chautauaqua, NY, but with the exception of Elizabeth HALL BENTLEY, none of the other three women's graves have been located. I would appreciate hearing from anyone familiar with HALL history in Portage County OH. One other unsolved mystery is John MOTT, an 11 year old living with the HALLS in the 1850 census.
