Hi all: One of my ancestors, a Robert Hazlett appears in the 1813 Tax List for Northampton in Portage County. I have never heard of Northampton before. Can anyone tell me where that was back then and what it would be called today? Also, I spent some time yesterday looking through old Civil Court Books and between June and November of 1816, my Robert Hazlett dies, probably living in Suffield, Portage Cty. OH. I have looked at the Courthouse for a death for him before and didn't find one, but I wasn't sure then that he died in Portage Cty. Now that I know that he did die in 1816 in Portage County, would there be death records located anywhere else in Portage County, other than at the courthouse? Does anyone have an idea of how I might find a death record for him? I am also unable to find any mention anywhere of where he is buried, and I find no probate file for him either. I was told yesterday that Summit County has some old records that pertain to Portage County as Portage was formed from Summit, but they didn't think that they would have 1816 death records there. Does anyone have any ideas as to how I could find a death record or burial record? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Laura Hine [email protected]
