    3. Gerald, Thanks for the offer. Do you find anything mentioned about the five children of Michael and Albertine Bletzer who were killed in a house fire in 1867? Are there any references to any of the Hellwig/Helwig surnames. I have the cemetery index for all Portage Co. cemeteries....be glad to put my 2 cents in again. Thanks for your help. 3. Hi Listers :-)! Nancy, do you have any PRI(T)CHARDs marrying any ROUSEs ......or has anyone else on this list come across such a marriage? I have three ROUSE children, mother's maiden name PRI(T)CHARD, that my ROUSE Family took in, so I am assuming that their mother or parents died around 1869/1870 as that's when they arrived in the adoptive household. The children were FLORA, born abt 1866, RANSLAIR (spelled a variety of ways, including Rance, born abt 1869, and MAY born abt 1870. (Rance Rouse is actually Rennselaer Rouse). 2. I have been trying to determine the parents of Elizabeth Bancroft described below: Seeking information on Elizabeth Bancroft Eldred, d Dec 20, 1842 and is buried in Tinker Cemetery, Nelson Twp. She was married in Portage Co to Lyman Eldred of Bedford, OH on Jan 27, 1825. Her age at death, 37 yrs. places heer year of birth as 1805. Her first child, Nelson Eldred, was born in 1836. She is buried in what appears to be a Bancroft plot next to the headstone of Rudolphus Bancroft, son of John Bancroft, also buried nearby. I have not been able to establish the relationship, if any, to John Bancroft and his sons. Elizabeth is my gggrandmother. I would appreciate any suggestions for further local research or any connection with Bancroft family descendants. Hal Houser I have checked obituaries and not found hers. I note that you list Bancroft as an ancestral name. Do you have any info on Elizabeth? Hal Houser

I am looking for anything on Briggs, especially the following: Asa Briggs, born August 28, 1778 in Vermont and supposedly died August 9, 1877. Not sure where he died. His first wife was Zebiah Williams Briggs, born November 17, 1812 in Massachusetts. Not sure when she died. His second wife was Abigail Tuttle Briggs. Not sure when she was born or died. I think her father was John Tuttle of Portage County. Their children (Asa and Zebiah) were Sally Maisson Briggs, born January 2, 1815, Vermont; Emory William Briggs, born June 18, 1819, Minerva Gratia Briggs, born January 12, 1823; (Asa and Abigail) Cardama Celia Briggs, born November 17, 1833 and Hiram Finley Briggs, born May 25, 1835. These people had children but I won't go any further with this. Anything you could find would be wonderful. Thank you. Marilee Larkey

    3. Thanks for this wonderful offer. I'm interested in any record of death for the following, who I believe died in Portage County. HOSKIN/HOSKINS: Milo, died 1866 Sidney, died 3 Oct 1832 (a 1 yr old child, so there may not be an obit) Lucy Angela Barton Hoskin died 13 April 1859 in Shalersville Any other Hoskin/Hoskins if you can. Hoping to find Milo's parents, whoever they were. PLATT: Joseph (appears on the 1850 census as 73 years old, so probably died before 1860) Elcy/Elsie was 78 in 1850, so again, probably died before 1860 Thanks again.
