Hello, Portage County folks! Well, I have finally succeeded in finding the parents of my secretive Calvin WARD, who arrived in Randolph in 1802, along with his brothers Salmon and Josiah. The parents of these brave pioneer boys were Josiah WARD and Mary HEDGES of Middletown, Connecticut. Now. Does anyone have birthdates for Calvin WARD and Lydia SABIN's daughters, Mary, Eunice or Phoebe? (Probably in the 1815-1830 range.) I know their daughter Annis was born 1830. And, does anyone know of any sons of Calvin and Lydia Sabin? Calvin and Lydia were my ggg grandparents. If you are related to them, and would like info on my line, I would be glad to send it to you. Just let me know. Thank you! Kathy Funk Genie Angels Volunteer http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~angels/

Hi All, As always, I am looking for any information on the ancestors of Jackson A. Mott b. 1835-d. 1892 or 93. I now believe he had a brother John Mott + wife Sophrona who are buried in Riverside Cemetery with a GAR marker. 1. Does anyone have information on John Mott b. 1873-d. 1911 Portage Co., Ohio; Civil war vet. I have a discrepancy in Jackson Mott's wife's maiden name. I believe her to be listed (pre marriage) on the 1860 Census for summit county, Hampton Township. 2. does anyone have access to Summit Co. 1860 Census and the willingness to look it up for me? I need to know what the surname is for the family of James ????. It is unreadable in my photo copy. I don't have the correct page # but it is dwelling #370, family #365, first name James ?????; 4th name listed is Alzina - age 16 who became Jackson Mott's wife; 6th name is Jackson Moot age 24 and it is a misspelling for Jackson Mott. 3. In the Portage Co. 1850 Census, Jackson Mott age 15 is listed in the family of Dr. Joseph and Eunice DeWolf. I am wondering if the DeWolf's were his guardians. Is there anyone in Portage County that could look up this possible gaurdianship for me? Thanks for your help. Ellen Mott <[email protected]>

Mott searchers, Diane and I have crossed paths before, but after a very recent visit to Portage Co. and the cemeteries there I am sure our Mott lines are one and the same. I am sure that Jackson A. Mott along with a brother John Mott was a son of Ezekial and Nancy Mott. Diane's 3 Ezekial seems to fit except for his wife's name. Riverside lists Ezekial's name with Nancy but has no cemetery record or dates for him. Nancy died on 13 March, 1851 at age 50 making her birth date in 1801 so Ezekial's birth would have to be in early 1800's. Could he have had 2 wives? I still don't understand why Jackson is never is on anyone's list. One reason could be that at age 15, in the1850 Census for Portage Co. Jackson Mott was listed with the family of Dr. Joseph & Eunice DeWolf. Were the DeWolf's his guardians, employers or ??? Could the Dr. be a second husband to Eunice whose first husband was a Mott thereby giving Jackson the Mott name? I know Dr. DeWolf is known to genealogists in Portage County. So if anyone visits the Portage Co. Historical Society it would be cool if you could check him out. Jackson is also listed in the Summit County 1860 Census as Jackson Moot residing with a family from which his then future wife Alzine may have come. If anyone has access to the Summit county census in Columbus, I'd appreciate it if you would be willing to look it up, it is dwelling #370, family 363. Head of the house appears to be James but I can't make out the surname on my poor photo copy. I am looking for that surname to help verify the identity of Jackson and his wife. Hi, I am wondering if anyone has cemetery records for Ravenna. My ancestor, William L. Root, died in Ravenna on August 13, 1895. I assume he is buried there. I would like to know where and the names and other information for other family members who are buried in the same plot. His wife's name was Almira or Elmira (Silverthorn) Root. Sandy, Yes I might have an interest. I have an Isaac (d. 1887 age 75) - wife Elizabeth (d. 1885 age 75) in Portage Co. Ohio that I think is in my Mott line. Don't know if her maiden name was Jobes. I think Isaac is a brother to Ezekiel Mott and father to Cornelius Mott whose wife was Katharine. Does this fit?
