    1. [OHPORTAG-L] Secret Police?
    2. Kathy Funk
    3. I'm baffled. My great-great grandfather, Henry Knapp Redfield (1822-1892), was a member of "The Secret Police" in Randolph, according to THE HISTORY OF PORTAGE COUNTY, OHIO. What, pray tell, did Randolph need Secret Police for back then? What did the Secret Police do? If you can shed any light on this subject, I'd really appreciate it. (Guess I should have paid better attention in my Ohio history class, eh?) Thanks! Kathy Funk

    3. Alas, no...it does not ring a bell. My Trotter line is so elusive that I just learned of his Portage County birth a month ago, and I've discovered he had a brother, Hortincho/Horatio and very probably a sister, Jane. I don't even know his parents' names yet. However, if Ruel does show up at any time, I'll be sure to let you know. Good luck in your search, Waynne > >Waynne- >The Trotter message caught my eye. 3. Thanks to both of you who answered my Trotter query. The dates are too early on both of your answers to be the Jane for whom I'm searching (the birth date had to have been somewhere around the 1840s or early 1850s, I think). However, since I don't know Mortimer, Hortincho/Horatio and Jane's parents' names, perhaps one of these is an aunt to the three siblings. Thanks again! Waynne

No, I don't know if this is Calvin's line. What was sent to me was that his parents were Josiah and Mary Ward of Connecticut, then Daniel and Eunice Ward of Connecticut, back again to William and Abigail Ward of Connecticut going back to the emigrants Will and Sarah Ward (Will born in North Leigh, Oxfordshire, England), whose parents were Tom and Dorothy Blackwell Ward of Oxfordshire, England. Tom was born 1590. Doesn't look at the moment to be the same line, but this is all the info I have right now. You never know! If this looks familiar, let me know!
